Hi All We have approx 80 rose Bushes and standard Roses and every year they are lovely and we don't have many problems with them , but this year we have a few of them which look healthy but they have no sign of any buds forming. The only thing we done different this year was to put Farm Yard manure around them in March this we bought in bags from a Nursery, we didn't think it was very good as it was very powdery. I have never had this happen before its as if they have been fed with nitrigen. Has anyone had this happen. Shirley

Hi Maurice Most garden roses are remontant and sometimes we expect every new shoot to end in a new Bud,But some times the Bud stops growing and ends at a leaf.The remedy is simple : cut off the end of it,down to an apparent sound eye which will then usually grow and bloom. The causes of blind shoots are not apparent,because they happened maybe weeks or months previously .Light and temperature are two powerful influences on if the plants flowers or not,we can perhaps expect that a blind shoot suffered at some point in time as it began to grow,from being too cold,lack of light or not getting enough Nutrients. Thankyou for these very helpful replies, I am a bit concerned about the Aminopyralid as there is not a single rose on a couple of the Bushes. I will though try cutting back to see if that helps. Thanks again
