Please can someone identify this for me ? The plants came from a pot from my MIL's garden. No one knows what was originally in it, so I'm not sure if these are "proper plants" or if I'm nuturing weeds !

    Many thanks.

That looks suspiciously like the bane of my life, a field-weed in the aster family. Self-seeds very prolifically.

A weed is merely a plant in the wrong place......

Could it be Ragged robin ?

I could try saying that to my MIL @infradig (about a weed being a plant in the wrong place), but l can just imagine the reaction!

I feel like l should know it...but no.

Why do they say that an unhealthy plant looks weedy? If an unidentified plant in robust good health, it's probably a weed

By the same token, why is a coward or person who is afraid to do a particular thing, referred to as a chicken? Chickens are mental. They're rock hard and they know it. They're descended from T Rex no less.

Don't think so somehow, @noisette47 , description of the leaves doesn't seem to tally and it doesn't grow in the UK I believe.

I can't remember what it's called but looks like a weed that grows tall and has lots of small creamy white flowers with yellow daisy-like centres .

I agree with @noisette47 and it certainly does grow in the UK

I'm a bit confused (nothing new there then).
I posted another photo yesterday of what l thought was a different weed in the same original pot, and that was identified as Eigeron canadensis.
Solved - Help with id of this weed (?) please

The leaves of the 2 plants I potted up look different, less slender, or do the leaves change as the plant grows ?

Can't say I've noticed a leaf change as I've been too busy yanking them out of my borders by the hundreds before they flower! It only takes one plant to provide seedlings for years to come.....

                  How does the saying go?

One year of seeding, seven years of weeding.

                  Or something like that.
