The Garden of Eden Project! :D

Blog entry posted by Jes0rKah, Jun 25, 2016.

So, I think it's time to get our garden project underway - we bought our first house 2 years ago now and so we've seen what the garden has to offer at the moment, but it's time to get our personal stamp on it!

At the moment there's not a full fence on our left side, as the previous occupier installed the fence themselves, but it's not stood up to the crazy winds we had over the last few months (plus we think it was weakened by our neighbours kid kicking footballs in it's vicinity).. :gaah:

We've now got one week to go until a new 6ft fence is installed professionally and I can't wait! I'll finally be able to enjoy my garden without having the awkward 'Oh, hello..' conversations that inevitably happen with only a 4ft fence - not that we don't like those neighbours, we do (we help people whenever we are asked), but sometimes you want to relax in your own little space and potter about quietly.

Sadly, that doesn't solve the issue of the other (right hand) side - who is the definition of nosy neighbour (often catch her just staring at us through her windows as we come home from work/potter about in the garden). So there's going to be a few months of discreetly 'screening' the right hand fence (on our side of the boundary) - which will no doubt spur a volley of questions and comments, but I've got various reasons lined up for it! We have a Jack Russell terrier who's not too fond of cats - so it'll be a 'cat prevention' technique etc. :dbgrtmb: :doggieshmooze: We do chat to her, but again, we are quiet people who just want to have a peaceful space in the summer we can enjoy - not too keen on hearing 20 minute rants about the fact the council aren't any good and that everyone she knows/meets are thieves or druggies..

So, now for the garden plans..

Step 1 - get the new fence installed on the right hand side/down the bottom & have a tree removed to clear the rear of the garden to create a 'veg' patch (behind the picket fence at the far end) - also trimming back the trees we've got along the right hand fence (most aren't our side of the fence, but they certainly grow over our side!) - We think are they damson trees.. :what:

Step 2 - too late in the season to start any growing, so going to weed membrane the cleared area and prep it for planting next year. In the mean time, plan out a few borders and planters to break up the extensive grass area we've currently got. Dispose/donate the basketball hoop that came with the house!

Step 3 - Begin operation 'Screening' from the bottom of the garden onward - with completion being a large planter and high trellis setup on the patio section, with perhaps Jasmine or Clematis for coverage (I might do screening behind, but not too sure at the moment).

I think that's a good few steps for now - don't want to make it too concrete plan wise, so I might change a few things up if things crop up in the meantime!

Well that's it for now I think - please feel free to offer suggestions/guidance as you see fit.. always open to suggestions!

Buh-bye for now!!
