What are we doing in the garden 2024
Just got in from a slug hunt in the garden. They were decimating the violas! Hopefully tonight’s work will slow their attacks down a bit!

Isn’t it odd how songs are our memories of events in the past, perhaps unrequited love or pain. Times we remember, ages gone by where the songs bring it all back!

Best approach to planting grass seed after removing weeds
Thank you, definitely sounds like something different to do, so I will look into growing grass in a seed tray.

Probably too cold, I wouldn't put them outside until mid May at the earliest.

Bare root roses, what should I expect
Make sure you water them well while they are still young. They will stay quite small this year, depends a bit on the variety, be bigger next year and look like proper roses bushes the year after....

Planting in the rain
If the perennials are happy in their pots then wait a bit until it is easier for you. I would dig some compost into the clay when you plant, then mulch.

Temperature for tomatoes under cover?
Thanks If and when we move house, I hope I remember that method if I have a south facing window to spare. Just shows that there’s always more than one way with veg growing.
