I started mixing edibles with my ornamentals years ago when I needed space to grow some spare tomato plants I had left over. I stuck them in a sunny flower bed with dahlias and they grew (and looked) very well together. I've started adding borlotti bean teepees as well at the back of the border...

Very interesting post re bees and beans ..see link below. Beans seem to be self fertile but bumble bees have found a way to get the nectar via the back door...by utting a hole in the back of the flower. Clever.Any nectar given in peas and green bean flowers?

Thank you! I do have a few bald patches on my lawn but I’m putting that down to it only being laid 6 months ago and we all know the quality of new build gardens!

I certainly agree with that. Pre-covid we used to do a lot of travelling and we tried to communicate with the people of the countries with at least a minimum of words. This included a lot of European languages (not too much of a problem as I did four of them at school) and many Asian languages...

No @JWK I put the fleece round the Hostas I was more fussed about as only had a limited supply of fleece. Poor old Ligularia got absolutely slaughtered as the slugs were obviously pis.ed off that their favourites were awkward to destroy and turned their onslaught onto the clump of Ligularia that...
