No Luke, they were grown in the open plot.I'll plant Charlottes again this august, but i'll spray against late blight this time. Its a usefull time of year to be digging spuds, the maincrop...

6" pots are ok but you'd be wasting your money, you'll get some onions resembling those you buy in sainsburys! :(I leave atLEAST 12" between plants, 18" between my (hopefully)...
