As Kristen says the cold won't harm them, it may in fact help them last a little longer by halting growth.

Sounds like you are in excellent shape for good coprs then :thumb: and you mostly want to provide some additional goodness, and perhaps bring the level up to the tops of the timber surround?In which case I think manure now, and then something more "compost-y" in the Spring should be idea....

Hi Luido, There's lot you could grow on a balcony or windiwcill. It is November so if you want to start straight away these would be my best suggestions.Pea shoots. Plant some peas, shoulder to shoulder, in a windowbox or just a deep pot, in some damp compost.. The pea shoots will soon come...

Well I have ordered some vegatable seeds. I reckon it is worth a bit of a gamble. £15.00 has bought me more seeds than I was going to buy. Had a look at some other seed suppliers and costed them on thier websites. Works out to be a saving of about 65%. I read somewhere that seed suppliers...

It is most likely that the compost you used was too rich or, unlikely in pots, there were a lost of stones in the compost.

I managed four pumpkins from two plants, not the biggest but good enough to give to my grandchildren for halloween.

Whether you've it tested or draw your own conclusions, determine its needs for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and trace elements. Use your own experience or ask a veteran gardener to educate you about any particular amendments that local soils need, such as lime if there's too much lime then...
