When to harvest butternut squash?
I think you should have had more fruit BUT we're in the middle of August now. Squash are not frost hardy so I doubt if you have time to get some more going and ripened before first frost. I think...

Round here, it is the hedge cutters who destroy the nut crop. They cut the hedges back to the main stem any time from now, well before the hazels are even ready enough for the squirrels.
