They do seed all over the place, but be warned they may not be as large flowered if your original was a selected form, like Bill McKenzie for example. We have a dwarf one called Radar which is something of a seed weed.

If your going to pinch out around eight inchs seems to be the normal hight before doing so

Guess I was lucky with mine. Never suffered curl at all. I seem to remember it was seven year before it fruited. It was positioned on a south facing wall and seemed to thrive.

Fargesia rufa is well behaved. My 10 year old specimen is about fence high.

The bigger they are when planting out, the better. But dont molly coddle them.

That's lovely whis4ey Mine have been going for a while too - one or two of them have been going on and off for a couple of months. Most unusual.

This is the little Japanese maple grown by me from a seedling planted in a bonsai dish. As it grows it will be moved to new pots until it is finally large enough to plant out into the garden
