I have seen it used on parking areas and heavy traffic areas on golf courses . Never seen it used on a house lawn as mutt protection. I have 4 big holes in my back lawn , courtesy of Molly. All attempts to secretly fill them in have failed as she digs them back up !

Looks like privet. If allowed it will flower, but usually people cut it too soon. Why not keep most of it and interplant with a few different plants rather than change the whole hedge in one go?

Went into Wilkos yesterday, missed most of the sale by about a week I think, but still some to be had.

Lavender would look good, smell good and attract bees.

I love them rhs practical books. Got well over 15 of them so far.

The ones in the sun are growing normally,the ones in the shade by ythe pond are slow the ones by the shady rhoddies are still asleep bacause its bloomin freezing.

Cosmos, zinnia, sunflowers would do well like this. They aren't teeny tiny seedling which are hard to look after. Dahlias too but you might not get flowers this year.

It will eventually be my water feature.. When I figure out how to do it! I have a sandstone ball to go in the middle of the little circle and the rest will be turfed (hubby's idea not mine) I do like grass but it's such a pain to keep on top of! But he wants it.. And he cuts it so who am I to...

I grow it too, it's a real star - with it's eye-catching deep purple foliage and white flowers that go on and on. Mine clump is about 6" high now but they do get very tall.

Cut the main stem and pull away as much as you can. Don't assume that just because the main stem has been cut you will kill the plant - you won't. Get as close as possible to the building or anywhere that the plant can intrude, you may be pleasantly surprised at how much can be physically pulled...

Thanks for the info. I think I am going wrong by not being patient. What I mean is I should realize that not all group 3 clematis bud at the same time.The rest of the group 3 I have seem to bud quite early,in fact I am so busy doing other things that I suddenly realize that I have not pruned...
