    Pansy or Petunia?

The 3rd was lobelia, but these flowers are very small.

How can I stop Abutilon 'Kentish Belle' from getting leggy?

Ok - you've done all you can. They are slightly leggy plants. I grew it behind other shrubs and tied it into the fence at my last house. They become more vigorous over time.

Just how cold is too cold?

Ricinus don't like the cold so you've done the right thing. I've had them in my greenhouse in previous years with a heater keeping a minimum 4C and they drooped over and I thought had died.

The flowers can be used to make a nice wine, and it's a lot easier on one's fingers than picking Gorse flowers.
