    I would leave the gravel in there! The gravel has been found to help water retension in composts. Cheers, Tony.

    If I'm putting a Rhodo in a planter and it's got spent compost in, I'll remove the spent compost to about an inch below where the Rhodo roots are going to be, then top up with ericaceous. Rhodos...

    First day of Spring!

    I almost forgot that clocks have changed...even if the temps haven't!Went outside after I got home last night and de-fleeced the rest. And also tied up a bamboo that was flopping over.
