Absolutely agree, although if they offer a guarantee on their plants (which Ashridge trees do) then I guess you've got nothing to lose! and they will be confident in their plants even planted during April.

Thanks Daytona! Unfortunately I have loads of veg seeds to grow, no greenhouse, a shortage of suitable windowsills and a major skill deficit in growing from seed... I wouldn't want to waste them but cheers for the offer!

Hi @Black Orchid , Thompson & Morgan sell them.The reason you can't buy them untill later is that they are not dormant yet so cannot be dug up for sale yet.

Hi Colin, I think you'll find your local nurseries (even B&Q) have plenty of brassicas ready for planting out. Could save you a lot of traveling about to pick some up.

Jane, have you tryed any agriculture farm auctions that may be in your area,saying that, do you know any farmers, they may have one or two laying around as they don't use them any more

Just curious: did you need to sit the pot in a tray of water? or just water it "normally"?
