New member wanting loads of advice please

    Hello everyone. I have been gardening for many years but seem to buy the wrong plants and they die! I have a south facing garden with an uninterrupted view of a farm at the bottom of a field. I have a good old fashioned hedge about three feet tall that acts as a sort of windbreak. I want to plant some evergreen flowering shrubs for a touch of colour in front of the hedge. Any good old favourites or hardy suggestions please.

              Thanks for the list Armandii. I will study it hard. To answer Jwk. I am in East Anglia, my soil is excellent, I make my own compost, and even though I say it myself it is rather good. I don,t have any clay or chalk. I have friends who garden near Newmarket and their soil is almost white with chalk!!! They tend to grow a lot in pots.

              I was getting at whether it was acidic or alkaline as many plants need one or the other.
