Hotpoint Indesit Creda Tumble Dryer Fire Hazard

I use a gas fire in the Lounge and gas heaters in the bedrooms, Shiney, and none are left on if I'm out of the house. Security lights are powered from my brick garage

 

We have ordered a new one today, a Candy this time (FC's probably going to tell me it's an awful make), but we baulked at paying £500+ for a prestige name like Bosch or AEG. Father-in-law had an expensive Bosch Dryer and that went wrong recently - was more expensive to repair than buy another so I don't want to do that.

That is acceptable in "older" houses, "M", but not usually in newly built houses, as you, under normal circumstances wouldn't be using a washing machine/tumble dryer in the hallway near the front door. My house was built in 1978 but has the gas and electric meters placed in a brick "cupboard" adjoining the front of the house and that has always been the arrangement. The trouble is that with the EU creating "one size fits all" legislation in such vast quantities that I doubt if any property actually meets all the regulations.

 

Most of the machines are made in China/Taiwan anyway, JWK, with a differing tweaked designs and models given a brand name by a company that's usually stopped manufacturing them in the original company. I have a Bosch Fridge/freezeer, Indesit condenser tumble dryer, and a Zanussi Washing Machine....so long as they do the job and it's the right price!!

Just as a matter of interest......Hoover and Candy are owned by the Candy Group, while Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda are all owned by the same company which gives Hotpoint machines more features and options.

 

I think it's all to do with cheapness/cost of labour and manufacturing, FC. Hotpoint move to Italy to manufacture their machines.
In the astronomy world, a large range of telescopes, accessories are made in China, and then those identical telescopes etc are sold under different brand names like Celestron, Skywatcher, Orion, and so on. Even one of the USA' two main manufacturers of telescopes was bought by Synta in 2014 so you can bet they will stop manufacturing in the USA and all Celestron Telescopes and equipment will be made in China.

You'll always find that the isolator switch/valve, "M" is by the meters.

 

Well, they never tell you about the relative buried at the bottom of the garden either, "M" People are usually only interested in moving out so unless you get a really good tour, [and ask questions], you never know where things are!!

I'd check that out, "M", as having a burst pipe can be 'orrible. There should be two, one in the house, usually under the kitchen sink, to allow the plumber to change taps etc, and one outside the house which is usually owned by the Water Company and may control the water mains to more than one house.
