Also, if you have a B&M near you, ours are selling them at £5 for 1 or £8 for 2.

Decent sized trees, probably about four and half to five ft tall.

These are very cheap prices and nothing is said about what rootstock they are on. I googled a few of the varieties because I hadn't heard of them. Burlet cherry is a French variety; I wonder if it will grow in our British climate? It needs a pollinator as does Hedelfingen. Both will grow big.

The Santa Maria and Buttira pears are both Italian varieties; is it too cold in the UK for it to ripen here? Pear blossom is susceptible to late frosts. They will also need pollinators.

Just a heads up to do a little research before you go out and buy one. They may not be that much of a bargain. Fruit trees are an investment and you want to get the right one. It may not stop me buying a pear though.....might just do well on a south facing wall.

I agree with Redwing, I've looked at the cheap fruit trees in the past from Aldi/Lidl and they don't have enough information on the packaging to determine what rootstock has been used so I gave them a miss.

I have tried aldi fruit trees in the past and have had 2 x braeburns and 2 x bramleys for about 5 years now. Despite being moved a couple of years ago they have never taken off and I am still taller than them

Never had any fruit from the bramleys and I get half a dozen braeburns from each tree every year. They are being pulled this year and I have decided to go for cordon apple trees instead.

I do have a couple of Victoria plum trees (3 years old now) from aldi, they are doing quite well at around 9 foot now and I hope for a decent crop this year else they will also get pulled.

              Steve...:)

I'm sure I've read about somebody getting a plum crop from their Aldi/Lidl 'apple' trees.

Out of about 6 apple trees, one died, one was wrongly labelled, but the crop in their 3rd year covered the cost of them.
