IMO... Cameron's scaremongering tactics will backfire on him.. People have had enough of relentless immigration. Cameron and his cronies promised to reduce immigration and then the numbers doubled. With that in mind how on earth can we believe a word any of them say. This whole EU thing is far far to complex for me to understand, I suspect I'm not alone. But we do not have the infrastructure to support the 360,000 people that came into the country in one year. IE last year. In real terms the NHS has had less money this year than last. Again the claims of extra money are and were complete rubbish, We do not have the housing for our own people let alone more. Schools . Doctors. Dentists, Hospitals, and gawd knows how many other services are at breaking point. We are told immigration is a huge financial gain to the UK so why not use that money to invest in services and infrastructure ?? I tell you why and its because those that gain are to greedy to allow this to happen ... I for one an sad at what I see every day here in the UK. On that basis alone I think you can geuss which way my vote will be going.. I do feel genuinely sad and regretful to be writing in this way but its how I feel.... Sorry.
I do have, as I once said in another thread, sympathy for Calais, they should not have to put up with this "bunch" camping on their soil. The UK is partly to blame by offering such good terms for those that claim asylum here, at least better than a lot of other EU countries.. But the EU wont allow us to give them different benefit to UK citizens. And there lies one of the biggest problems within the EU, they want free movement within the EU but at the same time have not done anything to address the problems of differing benefits and tax relief in the counties involved. It cant happen and it never will, or at least until the richest countries have been dragged down to the same level as the poorer ones.
I've seen a surprising amount of anti eu propaganda on the BBC of all places. It's very subtle but it's there. I feel sorry for David Cameron. After centuries of stability under different leaders, we nearly lost the union with Scotland under his leadership. Now under his leadership, after decades of fairly stable union with Europe, he's about blown that too. Regardless of political allegiance with past or present leaders, beingpurely objective, it seems to me that DC is by far the most incompetent in my lifetime so far.
I'm a Labour man and always have been, but I'm not sure I agree, Clueless. Times, political parties, national views and world circumstances have changed greatly in a very short time. Labour held the majority in Scotland but lost it to Nationalism and the road they were going down which has led them to where they are now. I cannot honestly say that any Labour Leader, in my lifetime, has been competent or strong enough to lead the UK into prosperity, low unemployment, better public transport, or a happier, stronger NHS. But then I will normally vote Labour still because of Maggie Thatcher and her Thugs and the deprivation that they caused. But while Corbin is Leader of the Labour Party I'm pretty sure my vote will go in another direction.

Well good on DC for doing something, unlike the previous five PM's since we joined in 1975. And, by the way don't forget that three out of the five were Labour so they've had more chances to initiate some change. I'm an in, always have been and always will be.

I still think we should differentiate between those immigrants that come here to claim benefits without wanting to move a finger for them, and those who come here to work, and who contribute to the country, pay their taxes etc.
I'm voting to leave the EU and close the gates at Dover/Folkestone please.... I'm sure the UK can trade with other European countries.
I dont see it that way really. Cameron had to come out of these discussions/ publicity stunt, looking like he had made progress, he knew that, and so did all the EU leaders. If not there would very likely have been a large swing to the out brigade, so sure cameron has to come out of this looking good, and in the next few months he will be talking up how well he has done to persuade Europe to change its ways. How one country can have any real effect on the running of that organisation is beyond belief. And now, I heard Belgium, I believe, has suggested that this should be the last time we are ever able to question the running of the EU. That in itself, to me, a very good reason to leave such a dictatorship.
