    Good morning one and all

I've been up since silly o'clock, have already walked Ozzy (boy was that cold! Thick frost, still dark but a beautiful moon lighting up the fields  ) one load of laundry done and drying and I'm just going to run a nice bath before I go out for a coffee morning.

    Sounds like a plan!

Then let's hope that it doesn't set you back but sends you forward :grphg:

Going to test a wholemeal loaf in the BM later today. Once all the basic recipes are tested out, I'll move on to experimenting.

    Stay warm, keep safe.
    xxMxx

I'm going off to the doc shortly. Going to ask her whether she thinks a scan/X-ray would be worth it.

Hi @shiney please keep us updated my friend:smile:

Mrs Woo has the same problem .I politely suggested that she was given a scan/x ray .which she had, she is still the same, they said that she has Osteoarthritis ie wear and tear:dunno: she was taking pain killers which have no effect,so we decided to stop them gradually which we now have  I am looking for an alternative treatment .

I went to a chiropractor for 10 years and to be honest since I stopped going a year ago I personally have been a lot better

@wiseowl I've heard osteoarthritis is nasty. Hugs to the little woman.:grphg:

It is snowing and the temperatures are dropping. Using up one more day of winter. "snow dig"

I'm waffling back and forth about when to open the greenhouse. I'm running out of space in the kitchen. Even the floor is now getting covered in pots.

How did the therapy and Dr's visit turn out for you? I do hope you find some grain of optimism to pull you through this :grphg:

@CanadianLori - watch where you're walking; you don't want us calling you Bigfoot when you crunch over those pots on the kitchen floor ;)

Achieved a little milestone today at the coffee morning: I crocheted my first ever Granny Square  :heehee: Now, that may not seem like much, but, when I attained the ripe old age of 5 years old and upwards, my mother chose that milestone to teach each of us how to: a) sew on a button; b) knit; c) how to make templates out of paper and fabric for patchwork quilting; d) how to make a rag rug and e) crochet! I simply didn't *get* crochet! :noidea:
I did try again when I was in my 20's, but nopey :nonofinger: it just didn't twig in my brain/hands for whatever reason.
However, today ... I *got* it! Ok, it's only one granny square, but, it's a GRANNY SQUARE!!! :hapfeet::hapfeet: :hapfeet: (I'm sure my mother would feeling so relieved the penny finally dropped proud :heehee: ).

It's good to learn something new, especially when life keeps throwing low ballers; good to keep mind and hands occupied
So: today, "Granny Squares"; tomorrow .... the World!! :paladin: Watch out Martha Stewart, I'm on your tail ;) :roflol:

                  @wiseowl @"M"

When I got to the doc she was running an hour late. I couldn't sit down in the waiting room so spent the hour walking up and down the corridor :noidea:

Although she was running late she didn't rush me and spent 25 minutes with me :blue thumb:. Extremely thorough case history (right back to childhood), is it giving me pains down my legs (no), trouble going to the loo (no), is it affecting my sleeping pattern etc. etc.

Then a thorough check up - spine too flat, not enough flexibility etc. Then checking my spine for disc problems, then thumping up and down my spine gently, then when it didn't hurt thumped harder and harder (still OK ).

Sending me for X-ray to check back and to look for ankylosing spondylitis. Also hacving to go for blood tests for the Erythrocyte sedimentation rate which gives indication of inflammation. :phew:

She asked if I'm taking any painkillers and I said I'm taking soluble paracetamol but restricting it to two every twelve hours. She told me off and said that I should be taking two, four times a day otherwise I don't get any benefit . It needs to accumulate.

I went from there to the chiropractic clinic for some Myofascial Release Treatment. This is gentle but usually helps when I have problems. The only trouble with that is that it gets worse for a while (usually up to couple of days).

So, end result:- she's pretty sure it's not disc problems (so am I) and have to have tests and checks for other problems. Pain is worse from both the doc and physio working on me so shall spend another night walking up and down or standing and leaning on the back of a chair whilst watching TV. By about 4 or 5 a.m. I hope I would have had an accumulation of sufficient para to make it feel a lot easier and be able to sit down. :)

I've not tried sleeping standing up yet. :snork:

                    Good advice.
Please remember that the 2x4 advice is for a 24hr period. Which means, in terms of gaining a faster "accumulation" you could take more at the start to bring about the desired effect. One of my GP's was very clear on this point and I have benefitted from recalling that advice. Even if it meant doubly up on Day 1 to achieve a level of pain relief and then being strict for the next 24hrs and beyond. The main cause for concern if taking more than the "recommended" dose is regarding damage to the major organs. However, that is not an issue on Day 1; only if abused thereafter.
Pah! Lightweight!! Clearly not a military man then: guard duty wouldn't be guard duty unless you had learned the art of sleeping standing up! ;)

Wishing you a degree of pain relief which will make life more tolerable while awaiting further tests :grphg:

                      Thanks @"M"

I shall take the tablets more frequently to start and shall take them every four hours (next lot at 9 p.m.). My chiropodist has said that they put the '8 in 24 hours' to err on the very safe side and, apparently, up to 20 in 24 hours is OK - according to medical research.

                          Aloha everyone,

Not yet sure how I'm getting on. (But this is handy for my record of progress.)

The pain killers started to help around 8 p.m. last night and I was able to lie back in my reclining chair without too much pain. Unfortunately I dozed off from exhaustion during Jack's TV programme so shall have to watch the recording I made of it. Woke up again at 9.30 but it was painful to try and get up so just continued there and watched TV. Dozed off again for a long time but needed to get up about 1.30.

That was the test of the painkillers. With a lot of difficulty, but not quite as much pain, I managed to get up in only two or three minutes. Walked around, slowly :noidea:, for about an hour but it was painful. Whereas, before, it wasn't too difficult walking around but agony to sit it had now become painful to walk but not agony to lie back in the armchair. So I went back to my chair and fell asleep for another hour. That's getting on for half a week's sleep in one night :blue thumb:.

It only took a painful minute to get out of my chair but is quite uncomfortable walking and is very uncomfortable sitting here typing. Taken some more tablets.

Today I'll go to the hospital for the X-rays if my back will allow me to drive. Otherwise it will have to wait until Monday.

Keep well and have a great day

                          Aloha!

Good Morning everyone, Shiney I do sympathise with you as I can well remember the agony with my back when I had severe sciatica and then subsequently got hooked on Tram@dol to ease the pain. Oh Lord the trouble I had coming off them. I wish you better soon.
Anyone else in pain or under the weather wish you all well soon.
Have a good day all, stay warm and dry and above all safe and well, God bless. :wub2:
