My most favourite "flyer" at the moment is the brave and forthright little wren who seems to view my garden as her own personal larder/playground. She's quite audacious really - no pictures, sorry - and is not in the least intimidated by a big, hairy, Ozzy patrolling his territory. She flits in and out of the pot plants, the arbour, the trellis and picks at who knows what with a mission and devil may care attitude! She is the first one I have ever seen and makes daily visits to strut her stuff. Could be a male but, for me, she is Jenny Wren :heehee:

Think I need to learn how to take photos, because she is just begging to become an "A" list celebrity (I know this because she was enchanted by the mirror I have on the patio and promptly settled on a hanging pot for a preen at first light this morning). I've fallen a little in love with her :wub2:

Thank you @"M" I thought I would add a little info instead of just the pics but I seem to have taken over this thread!

We had a Wren today too, very irregular though we might not see him/her for weeks at a time.

I think you are GC's Bird Man Strongy and it's good to learn from your knowledge of our feathered friends. I recognise many birds but still trip up now and again so it's good to have you here to put me straight. :dbgrtmb:

A barn owl passed by the lounge window whilst we were watching the \england rugby game ! Couldnt believe it,first one ive seen in about 20 years and it was only about 15 feet from me :ouch1:

The last few weeks weve had a blackbird with a white head feeding off the bread, seeds, dog biscuits we put out for the birds, weird bird indeed :rolleyespink:

I looked out the window and all the tall trees were covered in pigeons!

Even the usually aggressive crows were keeping out of the way.

Our resident crows were back enjoying the apples we put out on the lawn today. I love watching these birds, they're such engaging characters.

Could someone point me in the direction of some books or web pages that show clear pics of birds and bees please. Since seeing this page I've noticed different types coming to the garden and would like to know what they are. Can't distinguish black cap from coal tit.. :rolleyespink:

Try the RSPB Bird Identifier page but for a quick view of the more common garden birds see their Big Garden Bird Watch page :)

Not too sure about bees though :noidea:

Also go to Youtube, the BTO (British Trust for Ornithology) have loads of videos comparing all types of similar birds, I have found them very useful, particularly for song ID.

@Kandy, I hope for the other birds sake it didn't get any!

Corfe Castle Water works. Another Treatment plant with lots of birds.
Apart from lots of Pied Wagtails there was one female Grey.

I didn't expect to see several Goldcrests feeding on the filter beds trying to avoid the spray.

First Chiffchaff I've seen this year also feeding on the bed, probably an overwintering one.
