I had a big clear out over the weekend and sadly I throw out all my big Dahlias
(Like Sir Alf Ramsey) I don't wont to be staking this year, so going to keeping to the
Bishop series or smaller, I think they look so much better :)

Here's a selection of some of the Dahlias from last summer - the great thing is that they really do pump out flowers non-stop.

Thanks Anthony, it is an amazing flower. It starts out almost pure black and then fades to red over a day or two. It really churned out those flowers too, although really late in Oct.

I can't wait to get the dahlias going again this year. I left all mine in the ground this year so will be interesting to see which re-emerge.

By far and away my strongest growing dahlias are the tubers that I bought from RHS Cardiff show in April!

The Cactus Dahlia tubers I ordered from J Parkers have arrived nice and early . They look very healthy as well . Just got them stored in the cool now until planting time :blue thumb:

Potted up all my dahlias this weekend. I'm starting them earlyish to try and get some cuttings... And earlier flowers.

Had mine on heat for about 5 weeks now and managed to get 6 cuttings tonight - mainly all
Bishop of York and one Llandaff :)

That's great. I only have mine in the house, not on a heated propagator. Might try putting one one.

Lol! Thanks BeeHappy - that does bring back memories! Monty gave more advice on Dahlias than was squeezed into the programme. Funny how little makes it in to programmes.

Great work Intel! I can't wait to get my dahlias going again! I say that, the majority I left in the ground - here's hoping they haven't gone rotten. If so I'll just have to buy another huge batch. What a hardship ;)

I left two in the ground and two in pots in the shed. On examining the pot ones, one had rotted at the crown the other two were OK. But on the rotted one I planted each of its 6 tubers - will either work brilliantly or not at all! :D

I hope the ones in the ground are ok.

I found last year that everything survived and came back stronger and bigger in the ground! This year however has obviously been much wetter so who knows!?

Absolutely! Won't be too long until they start sprouting. Another month maybe?
