What's Looking Good in March

Good evening Daffodils are doing well now,just waiting for the first of the woodland Bluebells

 

I'm pleased to see that it has done so well . It must be your green fingers.

Anyone would think that you were a professional gardener.

 

Talking of Hellebores, we have lots around the garden and they just have to fend for themselves. Here are some of them. Sorry, but my bad back doesn't allow me to bend down to take the photos at a good angle.

Some are en-masse amongst other plants and some stand alone.





In the cyclamen bed they work quite well as the cyclamen start to flower just as the Hellebore finish. Shhh! Don't tell anyone, but we didn't plant them there

I, also haven't been able to get down and tidy these up but I can photograph them.








This is the bed that I was weeding when my back went. I was clearing amongst the lilies.



This area on the front of our place, by the footpath has suddenly gone mad. All the green shoots are self-seeded allium siculum We shall dig out a lot of them and pot them up for sale. I'll have to be careful as there are lots of irises amongst them.

We sold a lot last year on Open Day but there was so much demand that I had to keep going round the garden digging more out for people.





This was only planted, in our new bed, last April and is doing very well. The plants in that bed seem to be enjoying all the horse manure and compost that we dug into it.

 

I also haven't been able to tidy the ferns but everything seems to be going along quite happily (most of our ferns seem to die back for the winter).





Also in the fern/woodland area the arum italicum are doing very well. We shall have to pot some up for sale.



Our first Camellia flower of the season


In the new bed we have a lot of penstemon and haven't cut any back as Mrs Shiney is now going to take cuttings. Here are a couple of them that seem to look quite happy to me.

 

The compost heaps at the back seem to be doing OK but they're another thing I haven't been able to work on. The pitchfork is just waiting for me to use it for turning them over.



This poor old Hellebore corsicus is right on the edge of the driveway and gets splashed with muck all the time




We have dozens of Hellebore foetidus all over the garden and they give a nice brightness to the place all through the winter - and the bees love them.






The bees have also been loving the Pulmonaria that have been blooming for a couple of months




At least I've been able to trim some edges. The stepping stones look much better when the grass isn't flopping (technical gardening terminology) all over it.
