I saw a ragged Small Tortoiseshell three weeks ago and a Red Admiral recently but that seems early for a Comma @shiney, the warmer weather must have woken them up.
We should start seeing the pale yellow Brimstones around now.

@strongylodon That wasn't in our garden but in the winter garden at Anglesey Abbey (near Cambridge). We remarked upon how many ladybirds that we saw there. We must have seen at least a thousand on the plants along that pathway. Funnily enough, I don't remember seeing even one bee - whereas our garden is full of them, but with just a few ladybirds.

They will predate small birds as you know @wiseowl and if not from your garden, the someone else's. You either have to deter them or put up with them!

Holes Bay, Poole Harbour this morning. Apart from the Teal, they will all be off to the sub Arctic shortly to breed.
A pair of resting Teal kept their eyes on me.

A pair of Great Crested Grebe were out in the bay, courting but too far for a decent shot.

Didn't realise a Widgeon was a real thing ... thought it was some sort of double entendre
But what a handsome fellow he is! Fabulous shots, but this is my favourite of the day so ...

Up to now in my new garden I've seen blue tits, great tits, house sparrows, goldfinches, blackbirds, greenfinches, robins, wood pigeons, dunnocks, wrens, magpies and chaffinches. I only moved in on Saturday so all in all it's a good start. I'll keep my eyes open for anything else. Hopefully some other species will drop in when the feeders are in position. :hapydancsmil:

Good to hear @Fern4 , Long Tailed and Coal Tits are probables. When we visit o/h's aunt in her Care Home near Birkenhead we stay in her bungalow and see the same with the exception of Sparrows and no Starlings, both are plentiful down here.

@wiseowl, you found a Spotted Redshank too (as well as a Common one).:blue thumb:
Looking at it again they both appear to be Common Redshank.

I've heard Long tails but as yet I haven't seen any. It's interesting what you say about the Starlings. I was only commenting to OH this morning that I haven't seen any here. I do like them - hopefully some will turn up!

I eventually saw the Firecrest at the water works this morning but getting a shot through a chain link fence while it was constantly moving was almost impossible!
