It is a gardening community ... even at my local gardening club we play games/have quizzes; a bit of fun keeps life interesting ;)

I log on to Gardeners Corner to read what people are discussing about gardening and plants, not to play games. It wasn't meant to be an attack on Fern; I am just pointing out what I saw when I logged on today.

Here it is half an hour later:

Well I think of it this way......
OK, so only 1 out of the 10 posts is gardening related but it keeps the Corner from appearing to go stale.

There would only be 1 post in the whole of that half hour.
Wouldn't that look a bit dead to any newcomer looking in ?

I also notice that you haven't posted anything at all Redwing, so how can you criticise others who do post ( even if unrelated to gardening ).

I must confess that I felt like Redwing sometimes in the past too, but at other times I do feel that a great feature of this forum is the degree of cameratism amongst members which makes learning about gardening a bit more fun that merely Googling the information needed.

In any case now I have a little more time for gardening and I have all intention of making it meaningful...

I think the gardening discussions will pick up as soon as the weather picks up. :)

I dont use the games, but others seem to like it, I prefer the odd discussion about current affairs:biggrin:.
                Each to their own.
Someone, cant remember who it was,, said to me, you only get out what you put in.

I do think that is true, up to a point.

Hi Redwing, well, I think part of the answer as to why gardening questions become rare is the Winter!! Even the keenest gardener can become disenchanted by the constant grey skies, interminable army of clouds and the incessant daily rain. Most can survive a week, or even two, of the dismal weather that we have all suffered and still keep an eye on what's happening in the garden but last Autumn and Winter has been a "grinder" for a lot of us........hence the diversions into other subjects and Forums.:dunno::coffee::snorky:

I agree that the weather can be a dampener but I think about gardening a lot during the winter months but it is spring now. Lots and lots to be thinking about and asking about and giving opinions about.:please:

@Redwing are you looking only at latest posts??

I very rarely look at that and use the button called new posts at the top of the page, think you will find more intersting subjects that way.
Not so up to date but will list all the threads you have not looked at.

Hi Redwing. If you take a look at this thread:
What jobs are we doing in the garden today 2016
By my reckoning there have been 16 new posts added to this thread alone within the past 24 hours.

In addition, as Pete suggests, clicking on 'New Posts' shows over 20 specifically gardening related threads which have been added to in the past 24 hours.

I'd say that's quite a healthy level of activity, given the current cold weather and slow start to what is still late winter/early spring.
