I wish someone would tell the weather that! I'm still freezing and so are my plants!

It'll pick up soon @Redwing - only this week I've received two parcels. Just need the weather to pick up now.

Be nice, Anthony, Redwing was making an observation not a criticism......there's a difference

I don't consider 266 posts to be a lot over seven years Redwing when you make comparisons with other members.

I admit I had a few years off when other life events took over but I post about gardening and plants, giving and receiving advice and opinions but I don't play the games; it doesn't interest me. This is a gardening forum and when the posts are dominated by extraneous things that have nothing to do with gardening, it is boring.....just my opinion.

Most members are primarily here for the gardening but as has been said previously there are those that prefer a little diversion, that is their choice. During the winter months and early spring there is very little to discuss so members turn to other subjects that are available here on Gardeners Corner, but as the season wears on GC becomes inundated with gardening related questions and there are always fellow gardeners here to reply. Also at this time of year many members are concentrating on preparing their gardens for future planting and like myself, growing a large amount from seed, this, within the time available around their working lives, so GC has to take a back seat here and there.

Sorry, but it's not compulsory to read the posts/threads you refer too and a little diversion from time to time lightens the load. :) The larger percentage of gardening members have a very good sense of humour and there have been times when this has rescued a difficult or fractious situation. If you find the content boring perhaps Gardeners Corner isn't the forum for you.

Gardeners Corner is not just any old gardening forum, it's a community that has built over many years and has gained a lot of respect. It is also one of very few forums on any subject that strictly maintains a non-abusive and respectable level of communication between members. We have a wonderful administration team that keep things in order.

While Spring may have sprung in certain parts it made an appearance here yesterday and disappeared today! The majority of my plants are anxiously thinking about bursting into growth but I'm hoping they don't yet as so many can get slaughtered by frosts if too far on.

Well said @Sheal.I think the diversity of GC is part of it's attraction for me anyway. I've learnt loads about all sorts of subjects not just gardening and had a great number of laughs along the way. Discussion about gardening doesn't often give the most amusing dialogue (yes ok there are the old jokes a la "prick out 2ft apart") but I think GC would be a pretty dry forum if it was purely about gardening topics.

                            GC is a community.

If you want a purely gardening content then read a magazine, there are plenty out there.

In the meantime, we'll carry on chatting over the garden fence about whatever takes our fancy in the winter months, garden related or not.

Try walking into a pub and demanding folk only talk about beer....
