Better Together, Lead Us Don't Leave Us, etc. ;)

I'm in agreement with you though, yet possibly a bit less broadly vitriolic about it. :what:

        Oh, and it's " country ".

RE: Sugar Tax, I'm really not convinced, I'd need more details to be. Is this tax going to fall solely on the multi-billion corporate producers of said drinks, or is it going to be yet another price rise on food the poor can ill-afford? :help:

Yeah but why tax something only once when you can tax it several times?

Yeah and especially when you have got the general public out there lead by the odd millionaire saying it would be a fantastic thing to do.

            Bring it on.:frown:

Or even when the odd regular person who understands the repeatedly proven science that shows sugar to be almost as bad as baccy for long term health and who worries about some of the sights one sees with increasing frequency.

Just think people should take responsibility for themselves, not have to have it dictated to them, thereby affecting everyone else.

Yeah, been stuck behind the enormous fat a*rse in the supermarket aisle myself, it's annoying.

I'm confused now. According to the definition I was taught, Scotland has always been a country. The union that is the United kingdom comprises 3 countries and a piece of a fourth, being all of England, Scotland and Wales, and the northern section of Ireland.

"The United Kingdom (UK) comprises four countries:England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.[1][2]

Within the United Kingdom, a unitary sovereign state, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales have gained a degree of autonomy through the process ofdevolution. The UK Parliament and British Governmentdeal with all reserved matters for Northern Ireland and Scotland and all non-transferred matters for Wales, but not in general matters that have been devolved to theNorthern Ireland Assembly, Scottish Parliament andNational Assembly for Wales. Additionally, devolution in Northern Ireland is conditional on co-operation between the Northern Ireland Executive and theGovernment of Ireland (see North/South Ministerial Council) and the British Government consults with the Government of Ireland to reach agreement on some non-devolved matters for Northern Ireland (seeBritish–Irish Intergovernmental Conference). England, comprising the majority of the population and area of the United Kingdom,[3][4] remains fully the responsibility of the UK Parliament centralised in London."

Wouldn't he just. The UK leaving could well kick off the disintegration of the EU. Sweet pickings for Russia if that happens. Much the same reason that the US want us to stay in really.

A partial reform of healthcare (rather limited in the end as a result of the Republicans throwing a spanner in the works), the Iranian crisis handled with tact and restraint providing a reasonable outcome (Trump would probably have nuked them!), an end to the stupidity of US/Cuba relations, saying no to bombing Bin Ladens compound. The list is actually quite extensive.

Only if there is stability. Any major upheaval and we're every bit as stuffed as the rest of them. The trouble is that is hard to see through his smoke and mirrors, I suspect that we're pretty stuffed either way with just the depth varying.

Ok then here are some dictionary definitions.....

A country is region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography.

In English the word has become increasingly associated with political divisions, so that in one sense, " a country " is now a synonym for " state " or a " former sovereign state ".

Although not sovereign states, England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are referred to as separate countries , which collectively, as states form the Soverign State of the United Kingdom.
