I would love to see that magnificent machine at full chat - sadly, I don't think it will be back down in this neck of the woods again.

Grosmont, on the north Yorkshire moors. I was surprised by the size of it. It's absolutely enormous.

When I saw it would be up that way, I checked the dates as we're collecting our daughter from Uni at Manchester on Monday, unfortunately too late to make a diversion to see it. Thanks for posting pics.

It's there tomorrow. Last run at 6pm I think. You could head over a day early, grab a b&b, then pop over to Manchester first thing Monday.

                Something funny happened.

Train arrived, then the engine was uncoupled so it could swap ends ready for its next run.

Off went the engine about 200 yards down the track, waited for the signal, then came back to be coupled up to the coaches. Except it was on the wrong track. Someone in the signal box obviously made a slight error. So off went the engine again. And waited again, then we heard the clunking and clattering of the points being changed, and this time when the engine returned, it was on the same track as the coaches it was to pull.

Still, the blunder did give us more opportunities to get a good look.

                  Fantastic photos Clueless :)

I'm hoping to get to see it in September as it's going to be in Kidderminster for two days at a special steam rally on the SVR :)
