Although the day was not exactly warm the breeze was not strong enough to lower the temperature to make it uncomfortable I put a bodywarmer on and went out with jobs in mind!!
So I pruned back the Jasmine Hedge around the pond where there was some die back. I had to take care as there are around 5 Clematis growing in the hedge and, as always, their stems were right in the middle of where I was pruning:doh:
I also had to tie back the Armandii Clematis that is growing rampant through the branches of my Acer Brilliantissimum. Some of the stems were even hanging down making it look a bit like part of a Jungle!! and it has even decided to get into the two Conifers next to the Acer.
I had a mug of tea down by the pond, as usual, and watched the Frogs that were busy splashing and croaking without even bothering about me. There's also a fair amount of spawn so tomorrow I will gently bring it in closer to the bank so that the fish can't get an easy snack.
After that I decided to try to deal with that old enemy of the gardener..........Couch Grass:wallbanging::gaah: I always do a annual battle with it as if you even leave a tiny piece of root it will return en masse:dunno:..........which is what it had done this year. It only seems to thrive in the central lawn border which of course is intensively planted with hardy perennials, layers of bulbs, roses, and shrubs.:gaah: So I spent a "happy" hour on my knees with a garden hand fork digging up a protruding stems.

As I posted this on another thread it's easy to put on here

Luckily I was out in the garden earlier and manage to stop a minor disaster (can disasters be minor?). You would have laughed at the spectacle of Sarafi chasing a wren in the greenhouse whilst I was chasing Sarafi. Fortunately I won the race :phew:. He really didn't want to be stopped and struggled quite hard to get out of my arms. Not an easy thing to cope with whilst hopping on one leg!

I carried him to the front garden, he was trembling like mad, and cuddled and stroked him until he calmed down. When he had eventually relaxed I put him on Mrs Shiney's patient's car bonnet which was quite warm and kept stroking him until he fell asleep. Then I went back to the greenhouse to help the wren find his way out. :blue thumb:

I predict, considering his back health, that this year he'll be donning ...

Have spent the last week taking an old window from an old shed I found in a skip and turning into one for my shed.

Utter rubbish, was glad to get home.
Been told this morning our office is going from 6 building managers to 4, for the whole of Stockport housing, and we have to apply for our jobs.
