Thank you M and Woo, We will do some form of voluntary work but it won't be were we went, well the words we used when we seen the place, we can say on here ;) but we will look first, what some people say on the phone is a lot different to what you see :mute:

Jiffy, sorry to hear it didn't work out. I do voluntary work and if I think that something is not right I politely tell them what it is and how to correct it. My suggestions are not always taken in the spirit that they are meant! ;) :heehee: :noidea:

One thing I will say on this "employment is up by 2m and out of work claimants are down" malarky is a load of crap for my area. Coming from an ex mining village/town, work is pretty much non existent unless you take up a shop job, factory work or become self employed doing basic jobs such 'man with a van' or setting up a car wash on the side of the road or commute to Cardiff/Swansea.. (and our roads/trains are useless, our main road to Cardiff (a470) is only 2 lanes and our trains are not electrified or run on time but thats a different moan) it undervalues and undermines your ability and the work you do, furthermore they don't want to be sanctioned for so many months when refusing to take the cleaner job at 6.15 an hour when they're rent is at least 400pm and they will lose housing benefit in the mean time. I personally know 3 people who have moved back to their parents house due to this and now don't claim jobseekers as its more hassle than what its worth. As for the town over the mountain, Merthyr tydfil, that is a different story, they have had millions spent on town regen and out of town retail parks and I really do believe its down to the welsh assembly government being located there.. however the funding from the EU is not being spent proportionately in wales.. hence the massive difference in 3 valleys (merthyr, cynon and rhondda, rhondda being the worst Imo) and I do think we should leave the EU even though we have masses of funding from them. rant over

Sound advice @"M" I volunteered to help out at riding for the disabled (RDA)years ago and went religiously come rain or shine for 5 years. Then the instructor changed and it was a complete nightmare as the new "expert" was trying to teach the participants who were mainly mentally disabled and often physically disabled as well how to ride properly when most didn't know the difference between their left and right arm far less anything else. Regrettably, after having a few chosen words with the "expert" I couldn't stand it any longer. I left that RDA group and soon after joined another where the instructor was sane! I hated leaving the other group but knew if I stayed I might easily have caused another person to become physically disabled:yikes::smile:

                    What the .... ?

It's after nine on a Sunday evening. It's March.

Somebody nearby, about a mile or so away I'd say, is having a massive firework display.

What the hell is that all about? Celebrating the spring equinox? Just found a box of fireworks left over from November/New Year/Chinese New Year?

Mmm ... it's finished now. What was that all about? :dunno:

Could be a wedding or something similar. At a country hotel near us (about four or five miles away) they regularly have fireworks at 10 p.m. as part of the celebrations. It lasts about 10 minutes. I think it's in their advertising as an option when hiring the place so they must have a special licence for it.

My allotment neighbour's just told us, that the new Labrador of a family who is living here, broke out the yard, went down his allotment, caused havoc amongst the chickens, disturbed the bees and broke the back of a rabbit that was meant to be picked up by a breeder from Wales tomorrow. Poor thing had to be put down  ! My allotment neighbour is fuming as you can imagine - he doesn't blame the dog, but the owners, and expects compensation for both the rabbit and the vet bill.

Me again sorry... I was about to leave the house, and put on my dressing gown rather than my coat. Once arrived in the office, I put instant coffee into my water glass. Then I added cold water to my coffee.. I think this cries: go home! Do you agree?
