Anyone received an email saying the BlightWatch website is being revamped and then asking to confirm your details? The link looks very dodgy.

Not received any email, their site's down, but this one isn't http://blight.potato.org.uk/signup.html which appears to be same as this one http://potatoes.ahdb.org.uk/ Maybe they have a web contact page where they could be asked about this change?

Have they suggested your banking details, etc. are required to combat blight, and why does link look dodgy?

I've sent an enquiry to the Potato Industry's website asking what's happening.

No nothing in the text looks funny, but the link looks suspicious to me so I don't want to go there. I've added spaces to stop it being clickable:

          "http // r1.dmtrk.net /77yW-XYZ-LMQYZ-73P4-1 /c.aspx "

          Here's the email:

            I've now got that email

            But at http://blight.potato.org.uk/signup.html

Seems a right mess at the moment.

              Hi John,

I too have received the email but in my version although it looks identical to yours above, my link is completely different and goes direct to http://www.blightwatch.co.uk/updatedetails <-- This is not the complete link but it goes to my profile there to update my details and confirm.

I took part of the link you posted and removed the spaces to quick search the domain and all I really found out was that the security certificate for the domain was not right, this does not mean that it is bad.

But I do wonder why you get that link at all when it would appear nobody else is. If it happened to me I would suspect a browser hijack code or something similar within my email system.

              Steve...:)

Could well be the answer Steve. I'll wait till the new website is up and running and register again on that.

I'd also done a similar thing but nothing is ringing any alarm bells, but there is still something not right about it especially as you had a more believable link in your email.

                Hi

Please be assured that the Blightwatch website is being redeveloped so it will be easier to use and provide you reliable forecasting information about Smith periods. Re registration is required to make sure that the correct information is being sent out to you. If you want more information on blight please go to our website which has some useful tips

                  Thanks @ClaireHodge that's re-assuring.

Can you comment on the strange link I had in my email:
                  "http // r1.dmtrk.net /77yW-XYZ-LMQYZ-73P4-1 /c.aspx "

                  Is "dmtrk.net" your domain?

Thanks Claire - all above board - you can't be too careful these days.

Agreed, but I am so glad this ending is a happy outcome.

Thank you Claire for taking the time to come and clarify things for us.

I'll be starting to plant my tatties next week, I love this time of the year, fresh buds on things, soil being dug and things going in the ground...promise everywhere!

                    Steve...:)

Got a confirmation that the info in that email is correct, didn't have details of 'dodgy?' link when I asked. Can't sign into my existing account as forgotten password and the forgotten password emails don't get sent. Think I'll wait until April when new site's up and running before doing anything.

Received a tip off that due to mild winter they expect volunteer spuds carrying blight over winter to be more of a problem than usual.
