@shiney I had issues with a chipmunk going into my little greenhouse and I like to keep the door open on hot days to promote air circulation. I bought a cheapie roller shade mounted on the floor snug against the inside of the door and behind the threshold that I must step over. I put adjustable hooks up on the door frame to hold the shade in an up position, whether it is 6" or all the way to the top. When not in use, the spring retracts the shade and it is out of the way. I also cut large rectangles in the shade and glued insect screening over these openings and thus created a retractable screen door. No chippies going in there now...:blue thumb:

I am working this morning then going to putter around and do some baking this afternoon. :)

Have a safe and happy Chocolate day everyone!:snorky:

@CanadianLori thanks for the idea but I can't fit anything to the floor as it's crazy paving. :noidea:

hmmm, how about cutting the shade width down to the height you need and running it sidewise/attach to inside door frame?

Oh my goodness I've been so busy :phew: I haven't had time to get on here today :doh:I got up had my breakfast, sorted out some cupboards, took some jumble to my neighbour for the church sale then it was gardening time :hapydancsmil:, it was super, the birds were singing, the sun was out, hubby put my rose arch together, I've almost weeded all my flowerbeds :dbgrtmb: the hens have been 'helping' , my shed is hoovered, cleared & reorganised, I dug in some farmyard manure around my roses, I found a rat hole :th scifD36: under my greenhouse (trap set), I've cleared beside my shed & lots of other bits & bobs. Tomorrow hubby is going to collect something with his dad, I'm spending the morning inside to do the cleaning & take some more stuff to my neighbour for the jumble.
I hope you've all had a good day, I'm exhausted :snooze:.
Night night sleep tight & I shall catch up with you all I the morning :grphg:

                    Good morning,

I'm a bit stiff this morning :old:

It's very overcast here, I hope it doesn't rain this morning :fingers crossed:

Kev has gone to meet his dad, all I know is they are heading towards Heathrow & will be back traffic permitting before lunchtime. :dunno:

I need to get the cleaning done before I venture out into the garden , it appears I have my priorities the wrong way round!

                    Enjoy your day everyone :grphg:

                        Morning early people :)

Not very nice out today, looks like I might have to do some cleaning too :yikes:

Few bits to do in the greenhouse, noticed the peas have germinated yesterday :)

Took the staging down last year after the seed trays were done, can I find where I've put it :dunno:

Put a wooden shelf in there for the time being.

Clocks go forward tonight :yay: Light till 8pm tomorrow :)

Gooooooood Easter Saturday Morning to one and all

It's overcast, it's grey but ... had a fabulous walk this morning among the bluebells, primroses, celendines, woodland anemones, pheasants, rabbits and squirrels. Oz had a whale of a time scenting things out, so, I went and hid myself away to see how long it would take him to notice I wasn't there (bad Mimmy! :heehee: ). The look on his face when it suddenly dawned on him I wasn't *there* :snorky: Worse, such was his panic that I'd disappeared (I was only behind the holly) he even ran past me :roflol: He stuck closer to me and the trail after that :doggieshmooze:

Moved some more pots around the patio yesterday, which was a bit on the stoopid side of wise because they are concrete pots already planted and very heavy  In my head I was singing: "Do the shuffle ... " and just wiggled and jiggled them into place. But, I must say, they do look better now :blue thumb: It's taking time to find the right spot for everything I brought with me for the garden, but, slowly and surely it is all finally beginning to knit together, the pots, the ornaments the bits and bobs.

@Zigs - good reminder, thank you

@moyra - hope you get out for a pleasant walk with Amber before the weather decides we need watering.

@Beckie76 - enjoy your gardening freedoms :heehee: Glad you've got your rose arch up (at last) and I bet it looks great. Which roses are you growing up it?

@CanadianLori - so, hungry person would like to know what baking you achieved yesterday and do you need a Chief Taster?

@wiseowl - Enjoy your Easter Saturday and your walk with Penny today.

@shiney ... Oi! You're late!!! :nonofinger: Hope all is well at shineyland.

                            Aloha everyone,

Sorry I'm late but I've been dealing with a host of emails. :phew:

My back is still getting better :blue thumb: but I think the leg is going to take a long time, but I can't let that stop me from doing things (within the boundary that Mrs Shiney has set ;) :heehee:).

We also have rabbit problems that I'm working on. It's not easy as they come in from my neighbour's garden and he's not prepared to put up a load of fencing (don't really blame him as it would cost over £1,000).

We're moving plants around at the moment. It doesn't feel much like a positive thing to do but it's necessary.

We got some more compost yesterday and I'll get Michael to unload the car. I bought some Gorilla tape yesterday and I hope I can fix the grass box on the mower with it. Otherwise they want £157 for a replacement. :rolleyespink: I've never used that tape before but my DIY friend says it should do the job - for a while.

I've done a little in the garden this morning so, having had a rest, I had better get out there again. There's a yellow weather warning out for here and heavy rain expected this afternoon.

Keep well and have a great day

                            Aloha!

:gaah: zone envy!!! We are expecting for April 2,3,4,5 to have -8c or worse... :gaah:

@ "M" I only baked some rolls made using the beer bread recipe and a light ale. They came out lovely and fluffy and went nicely with a chicken burger. I am thinking about baking some chocolate chip or oatmeal cookies though... :)

Got a lot of pinching out and potting up to do today. Running out of space for pots again. It is supposed to be a very sunny day so I'm hoping to get outside for a bit. I need to remove any hooks or other things I've got on my fence as I've contracted for the side yard fences to be removed and a metal one to go in a couple of weeks from now. The old fence is 30 years old and leaning a bit like a drunken sailor (ooops, no offence @Jack McHammocklashing )

Have a safe Saturday everyone :)
