Hubby adores purple flowers and in a moment of weakness I indulged him and got 6 purple Clem's - Polish Spirit, Dark Eyes, Warsaw Nike, Aeotora, Royal Velour and Star of India.
I wonder if I should plant them in a run or break the purple up with reds and whites. I can't decide......

@BeeHappy, what a great idea. The only yellow one I know is Bill McKenzie. You have inspired me to search for yellow now. Thanks very much. Great idea. :)

Hi Beehappy, that's a great looking Clematis, but as far as I know it's not a Clematis Armandii:dunno: Most Clematis Armandii varieties are white with C. Armandii "Apple Blossom" going to pink, but I don't know of any yellow varieties?. At the latest count I have around 132 Clematis around and about the garden and, I'm pretty sure, all the Clematis Armandii varieties but it's taken me a fair while to understand them!!

Well, to be honest, I did have my doubts about it being a Clematis but I thought it better just to say I didn't think it was a Clematis Armandii:heehee:

This is my Clematis trellised arch leading into the garden. It has about 30 odd Clematis on either side which flower throughout the year. I tend to break rules rather than follow them:doh:so I planted them all close together and because of the mixture of Classes and not being able to tell which is which, I prune them all, except for the Clematis Armandii , together in Spring.

:heehee: That is the same conversation I had with Mr "M" the other week when we were digging a new border by the trellis. He moaned, he groaned, he disagreed, he huffed, he puffed, he sighed ... then duly did as requested, sat back on the arbour afterwards and said: "That was a good idea of mine" :mute:
