Good morning from the rather chilly Northeast!

I didn't have to scrape the car windows this morning.. could it be that spring is really on its way?

Very ... efficient! I'm glad something is being put in place ready for the A&E strike but the questionnaire ... ... still, I suppose it is something we should all give some thought to.

Well, a beautiful morning here today and a wonderful walk with the Oz kick started it off. I've now got two hens broody, but still getting plenty of fresh eggs. Probably got surplus to requirements at the moment, so I'll have to do some baking/freezing.

The pair of semi's being built behind my garden are now at the "roof" stage. So disheartening on the one hand because I liked looking at grass and the sheep. That's progress for you, I suppose. It does put me off being in the back garden at the moment though, I don't like hearing their vulgar language and some of the topics they choose to discuss aren't really something I'd choose to listen to either So, I time my gardening for when they are not there (thank goodness for the lighter evenings).

@"M" I'm sorry to hear that you can't enjoy your garden because of the workers. They do tend to act as though they are on their own planet.

I worked the stiffness out through more work yesterday.

Had another look at the calendar and realized that now we are no longer numbered wards for looking up our large item pick up by the waste management people. Now that we are lettered regions, my pick up has changed from this friday to next and the shed that I emptied and put out front now needs to be brought back into the back yard for a week Oh well. I couldn't believe how light it is when it's empty - I was too lazy to empty it the last few times I shifted it And yes, to those who are suspicious of my constantly moving things, I consider it the same as rearranging the furniture

I'm late on parade this morning, work has been crazy but I'm pleased to report I've caught up again .

Glorious bright day here the wind is still chilly but there's no sign of any rain

Yesterday I said I thought Buttercup was broody, I was wrong she was straight out of the coop this morning shouting at me, gawd knows what was the matter with her yesterday morning!

@CanadianLori, I will let you know how I get on with the ice cream maker, I'm looking forward to playing with it . They are fantastic machines. Kev has been looking at all the various attachments, I certainly think I need a few more! .

I agree Trunky, frosty and misty this morning, which made for an interesting walk with Oz at silly o'clock. Not a heavy, crunchy, frost but one which made my hands tingle with the cold no matter how briskly I walked. The air was beautifully fresh though Now, the sun is smiling on my world and is forecast to be that way for the whole day

Already had a Skype chat with youngest, who is celebrating another wage packet and still finding it a novelty so refreshing! Wonder how long it will take before he bemoans something or other with his wage slip?

@shiney - really? 44 yrs!!??? You certainly got your monies worth because it still looks as good as new Pity I haven't weathered quite so well (note to self: must write a stern letter to my manufacturer about quality control issues)

@CanadianLori - Interesting that you should mention "large item pick up's" ... our local radio station was discussing this issue yesterday too. Only, in our case, it isn't about relabeling of zones from numbers to letters, but the (quite considerable) differences in how much councils charge for large item removals. For example, some local councils charge as much as £20+ for ONE item; whereas other local councils may charge as much as £50, but, that can be for up to 5 items. All quite confusing and very dependent on which district you live in. Which was an opening for the person who was promoting that all people within a County should be charged a set fee. Then it got quarrelsome because people phoned in to say it shouldn't be an "extra" charge at all because we already pay quite richly for waste removal and they should be included! At which point ... I went for a lie down

@"M" We get 3 large items picked up once a month from April through to November. It is free but really has already been paid by our property tax.

I've got to work today doing sample jobs for showrooms of a high end fabric company. Was lucky to get their custom and do enjoy getting a preview of what is the coming trend in home decor. Good fun and getting paid to do it is even better! It's a good day to be working inside because we are back to wintry temps and cloudy skies for the next 6 days. Work now, play later

Not a good day here , I've had to have words with my nieces mum, she's been taking advantage of my mum & dumping my niece on her. Mums not in the best health & she cannot manage to have my niece for 4 days at a time! I've also had to have stern words with my mum too.....so basically I've upset everyone, not intentionally I might add. When I saw mum on Monday she looked terrible, drawn & really ill, she had had my niece for 4 days, my brother hadn't been helping much... He's next on my list, My other brother has offered to speak to him, but he doesn't need the stress with his heart problem, I'm going to just have a quiet chat with him, I'm sure he's just got a bit caught up with work & life & hasn't realised what's going on.

Frosty start here this morning followed by a lovely bright sunny day .

Buttercup refused to get up this morning so I lifted her out of the coop & collected the eggs....she was furious with me!

It's the village jumble sale tomorrow, I can't go but I've donated as much stuff as possible, last year they raised £700, I hope this year is as good if not better .
