That'll teach you to read it! :nonofinger: :noidea:

I've had a damaged knee for the last 55 years. It never stopped me from climbing (small) mountains or doing a lot of what I wanted. Just don't overdo things (look who's talking ), be sensible and have a positive attitude. :dbgrtmb:

It's quite 'dangerous' to look on google - it sets all sorts of thoughts in train.

My top advice is - don't worry about it  - see what the doc says.:)

There's some reassuring news. Not seen doc yet (that's tomorrow) but my knees are now giving very little bother. What bit of bother that remains, now that it's not the whole region hurting, I can pinpoint to the end of a muscle just above the knee cap.

My ankle is still very painful though for no obvious reason. Possibly I've simply burned myself out by trying to match people half my age and twice as experienced in martial arts, because I'm a fool.

I'm thinking of taking the rest of this month off training, depending on what doc says.

I've been taking cod liver oil daily for a good while. Also recently started taking glucosamine, MSM and chondroitin. I also try to ensure I get plenty of vitamins, minerals and lean protein.

I think my main problem is quite simply, stupidity.

It's always been my philosophy that if I'm going to commit to anything, it's 100% or nothing. I stand by that, but realise I've misinterpreted my own rule. Giving 100% doesn't mean pushing to breaking point then losing several weeks to injury. Giving 100% means planning ahead, working within safe limits etc. I'm the kind of person that if I was to do a marathon, I'd launch from the start into a full sprint, then be overtaken by everyone 100 yards in as I stand at the side gasping for breath. I need to learn to pace myself.

If you suffer from occasional joint inflammation, it's extremely handy to have a pack of that ready in case you have a problem many miles away from home and need some rapid relief to enable you to manage the drive back home.

It will also compliment access to cheap homebrew that will cause you to fall downstairs, numbing the pain and also enabling you to climb back up again. It's good stuff, trust me.

This is the stuff mentioned above, just tell your Doctor you get drunk, fall over and it hurts, these tabs will sort it out immediately.

I still have some tram a dol in the medicine drawer from when I nearly dropped dead (literally). I'm saving them for a special occasion, when I find myself in considerable pain. Looking back at when I was on them after my release from hospital, I'm not sure if they were amazing pain killers, or if they simply screwed your mind up so you couldn't remember pain, or a bit of both, but one way or another, they worked.

Just thought it good idea to restate that, in case the seriousness of it gets lost amongst my other posts.

I haven't needed any for some time now, but made sure they're on my repeat prescription list in case more are required, plus always carried whilst away incase of a predictive twinge.

I take naproxen occasionally because I got tennis elbow in both arms at the same time some years ago and every once awhile it flares up. I just need one tablet to put me back on track.

tennis elbow.... and I didn't even know I had a racket... :heehee:
