They look healthy plants Canny, how big are they, it's difficult to tell as there is nothing in the photo for scale?

At that size I'd pot them on and get them a bit bigger. They will need hardening off before planting out too.

Next time I will try to find those supports because mine are falling over or bent.

Onions doing well this year, this pic is from 3 weeks ago. As of this weekend just gone they were measuring 6" circumference and approx 4ft high, although the leafs are flopping over the supports from the weight. Sowed these end of Oct, and got 4 plants this size. Got about another 25 half the size for eating when they are ready.

That looks very good @ash25 - have you had them under growlamps? Also that one looks to be in a big pot, are you intending to plant them outdoors in the soil soon?

I am quitting this contest. I will still keep growing mine but it would be insanity to compete with beauties like yours!

                  Good job :)

I think we can all see ash is well out in the lead - but it's the taking part is as much fun as anything - so please keep going Lori - we might get a terrible spell of weather here in the UK and you could much better so you never know :)

Yep, anything could happen, from Onion white rot to a random goat attack. It's not over till the fat lady sings green onions.

Hi JWK, Ive had them under some standard fluorescent lights for the first 3 months in the spare bedroom, then I put them out in the greenhouse mid January. Had a small electric heater keeping the greenhouse at 12C minimum and did pit the lights put with them as well for the dull winter days. They are in large 35litre flexible buckets where I am going to keep them for the remaining time now still in the greenhouse. I have put the lights behind the onions now so the leaves still getting good light on dull days.

I'll get a picture later of the full setup so you can see.
