Start it early in the greenhouse if possible to protect against a poor spring/summer.

Not tried that one but it looks interesting. :blue thumb:

I've found it a touch tender.

    Hardy.

    I have some seedlings.

My parcel arrived today, Trilliums looks very small but the rest look good sizes. Plus, it comes with 2 free gifts, I chose a surprise. Well, I'm really chuffed with the surprise, Cosmos Flamingo and Hedychium Ellpiticum!

I'm not 100% sure, I ordered and paid online on Monday, arrived today. Pretty slick operation it seems.

That's some of mine starting to poke through the soil in their pots in the greenhouse. Have you got yours planted out yet?
Visa vie your Trillium seedlings being small @NCFCcrazy. I hope they aren't similar to Trillium Grandiflorum which I grow (my absolute all time favourite along with my various blue Meconopsis). My clump of Grandflorium which is just into flower now I must have had for getting on for 30 years and still isn't more than about 5 ft squared. I have collected self sown seed ( much more successful than trying to save and sow myself). From 1st emerging to getting the seedlings to flowering size is at least 5 flaming years! Hopefully cuneatum isn't so painfully slow to increase.

@silu , the Galtonia are just peeking through now in the seed tray. 10 weeks from planting , I was just beginning to panic :) I'll wait until they are a good 2" tall then plant them out in the flower bed - and sit back and wait with fingers crossed :blue thumb:

Sounds like a "cunning plan Baldrick" aka @HarryS that's most of mine through too. It will be nice (hopefully) to have something new flowering in the garden towards the end of the season when so many other things are finished.

Can only go by what the bulbs do in a neighbours garden and they start flowering in mid August approx.

I expected to see some growth by now but nothing, may dig it up and grow in on in my cold frame. The arismaea are doing well though.

I love Meconopsis too, I have quite a few seedlings coming through now and expecting the ones sown in winter 2014 to flower this year. I didn't think they would grow in Norwich with my alkaline soil, but I dig in plenty of ericaceous compost and they do fine. I even use tap water, although i only water during dry periods.

I'm not an expert on Meconopsis @NCFCcrazy but have grown them for quite a few years now. If you can source some well rotted manure your seedlings would like that placed around them as a mulch and the manure will increase the acidity of your soil. One thing that Meconopsis loath is being crowded by other plants. I have lost a fair few by letting other herbaceous encroach on their space. I find it best to grow Meconopsis on their own maybe with Rhododendrons/Azaleas etc but not with other types of herbaceous plants. You are correct, your 2014 sowings should flower this season. Always best to never let seedlings flower their 1st season. Photo taken last season is of a few of mine that I grew from seed in 2012 so their 3rd year.
