The biggest bugbear I have with gardening is grass seed germination , unless it is on my drive where it grows 100% I just picked this up today at the supermarket - Gro-Sure Smart Lawn Seed , seems to have more technology than an Aston Martin and is "guaranteed" to grow . I am waiting for the night temp to boost up a bit before I reseed and top dress my lawns. Has anybody else used this with good results ? It may be new this year.

Never used it myself, how much did it cost you? It's got more technology then an Aston Martin lol that's funny.

Not sure Janet , got it from Asda . They had three sizes 25metre 40metre and a big bag.
I think the 40metre was £13 . So its not the cheapest.
Wilkos do a weigh your own grass seed ( play lawn or fine lawn ) now that is a very good price for 1kg .

I bought a similar product that is a blend of all kinds of seeds encapsulated in some miracle gel that is supposed to germinate in 4 days.

A week later and still no signs of emergence but the trepidation of coming home every day to hopefully discover a few blades of new grass in the bare patches of a lawn that was underlayed with plastic mesh (to park a car on) is overwhelming. Maybe the soil isn't warm enough yet as a lot of the garden only gets brief intervals of sunshine.

It's been a constant battle since last autumn with leatherjackets chomping their way around the the grass in bizarre L-shapes, wormcasts pushing the seelings out and the dreaded 1 square metre of doom in the middle where the wet soil is sending all seeds to a watery grave.

One day it will be a magnificent lawn, even if I have to go out there and spend all my weekends with a hairdryer on the square of oblivion.

That's just brilliant. Good luck, seriously. :fingers crossed: :blue thumb:

@HarryS I'm sure I seen this a few years back, it was def in asda last year.. think you might be paying for the seed coating rather than a good quality seed :noidea: just MO though
