A grand job there Martin. A question though. :) The two sleepers that extend on to the lawn from the steps - will you be altering those? Being raised they strike me as a safety hazard should somebody trip on them.

Thank you Sheal, they will be stopping as the are, backfilling and the last step will be a gradual slope when finished,

I am very safety conscious with three grandkids running around, I just cant do everything at once its far from finished atm :blue thumb: but thanks for the heads up :).

This is the area that still needs backfilling you can see the level on the gravel board.

Now I'm with you. :) The photo's are deceiving regarding ground level but I can see clearly now where you've marked the last picture. The wood will disappear once the ground is levelled. Sorry, I wasn't doubting your abilities or your safety measures. I just couldn't see how they would work as they are currently. :)

......And then you get told to stop fussing by those same children! It doesn't matter how old our children get, we still look out for them. Once a parent, always a parent. :)

I think perhaps you should post in the Roses Forum. I've not had climbers so am unable to advise you. I have the shrub version of 'Iceberg' and the flowers are a lovely clear white. Some members have the climber and are very pleased with it.

A quick google and found this, i will have a look through it later and decide what's best suited, i might dedicate my two new borders to roses high and low level with spring flowers around them,

Spring and rose patch sounds like a plan :).

Yes plenty to go at Sheal :wallbanging: ive seen one that we like for starters :)

I have a plan :), i will be making two Arbours for both sides of the steps, i cant have one over the steps as i have a pole that needs to be lowered to the ground for maintenance,

My plan is to make little planters into my design and fill them with trailing plants petunias etc , this will give me some colour while the roses grow to fill the Arbour, the red lines will be planters for them :).
