Thanks NG. :) He's recently bought another bike for restoration and will be starting work on an old BMW.

Thank you Woo. I agree and the sound of the familiar grumble that goes with them when they are started. :)

I didn't know about this bit. I work for several of the bike magazines. Back Street Heroes is the one I have worked for longest, that is still going! Custom bikes, for those who don't know it. I am involved with Classic Bike Guide as well and have worked with Frank, the editor, for 25 or so years now. Another is Cafe Racer - so Perkins, if you are up for it, I am sure they would be interested in your modern Bonnie for a feature.

Here is one I did that happens to be on my album thingy:

This was the chaps first custom build, and he made the frame, wheels, tank, seat......

Another, from Krazy Horse in Bury St Edmunds, 1200 Sportster motor:

And the Cafe Racer Festival at Monthelrey, just outside Paris. France's version of Brooklands:

And this is me, on what takes me around. On the way to The Faroes last year (1187 miles in one day to get to the ferry at Hirstals!) Waiting for the ferry, good job it wasn't raining!

Somewhere on the German bit, about 500 miles in to the trip:

A well earned break. I always carry a pinty glass with me. I refuse to drink beer out of a can or bottle:

        Oops, same pic twice somehow.

This was the other one, at the oldest inhabited farmstead on the islands. The same family have lived here for 7 generations:

On the subject of reg plates - I wouldn't worry about showing them on here. They are on public view as soon as you ride down the road.

Is it responsible journalism to drink beer and operate any kind of motor vehicle? Or even just responsible? Shame on you, Simon. Alcohol and any kind motor vehicle do not mix.

Lovely pictures Simon. That must have been a great trip. :)

But if someone takes a fancy to what they see here, taking out the reg plates makes things more difficult for them should they have something underhand in mind.

Thankfully I am not a journalist, only a mere photographer. Whether it is responsible or not, I don't care. A beer is a pleasure I enjoy, in a scenic place, I enjoy it more. Those who wish to become monastic about their lives can do so, but do not preach to me. You have no idea how long it was before I turned the key in the ignition post pinty.

You'll be telling me this irresponsible riding next:

Oh there is plenty there - about 580hp actually, in that flame painted hayabusa - it happens to be the World Record Wheelie holder. 209.822 mph ON THE BACK WHEEL, standing 1 mile start. The 1 Kilometer record he got was 189.681 mph, that is the top speed with the bike in wheelie mode from the start.....and only 1km to accelerate it up in.

I've been a biker for the last 30 yrs and love em. I live 30 mins from the Ducati factory and every now and then at a our local bike haunt you can catch some of their unreleased models being taken for road tests around the twisties here. It's the main reason i got into airbrushing and custom painting

Sounds good to me - I have done over 700 miles this week on the bike already.....Northumberland and back and Hull and back (it bloody snowed on me too). In the wet, cold conditions my virtually shot tyres weren't the grippiest, made me sing Paul Simon in my helmet...'slip sliding away...!' I'll get another couple of 000 miles out of them yet though. The threads aren't showing.
