Yes a great looking Fuchsia, its easy to see why people like these

Got my Eva Boerg and Cecile plugs today (6 of each) they all seem to have a
good healthy root system so really looking forward to growing these this year.

Exciting !! One of my new Fuchsias has flowered already
It's called Roesse Meton.
The flowers are tiny, and look so sweet you could eat them.
(Sorry it's a bit blurred - it's my shaky hands ...)

 

Morrison had a lot of fuchsias too, haven't seen them before

 

I couldn't resist the temptation any longer, nipped down to Morrisons and brought this lot.

Well I received my last 20 new ones yesterday but unfortunately the one I really wanted was substituted for one I've already got :(

If anyone knows where I can get a " Texas Longhorn " from ( mail order ), or if anyone has one I can buy a cutting from I'd be eternally grateful

Information time............

It looks like a normal red/white variety, but, the flowers are between 8 and 9 inches across.
It really is a magnificent flower, although it is a bit shy ( probably because it puts all it's energy into the size ), definitely a case of " Quality over Quantity ".

It's one I grew years ago but unfortunately is hard to get hold of now.

 

There is a seller on Ebay that was selling them last year, he doesn't seem to be selling them now
but it might be worth emailing him.

Yeah I did see that, but to be honest I can see why it's marked as " unsold ". There's no way I'd ever pay that much ( £15 ) for a Fuchsia cutting. It is still out there so why someone would charge that much for a plant that you can root in a glass of water I don't know. Probably just pure greed and profiteering. My supplier will have them in ready to grow on later in the Summer/Autumn, so I guess I'll just wait for it.

I remember Lockyers from the 80's and 90's , they were one of the top Fuchsia companies in the country but I thought they had gone now. They were also one of the most famous breeders in the World at one point.

Planted 3 hardy fuchsia last year all in the same patch.Delta Sarah,Alice Hoffman & Garden News. All 3 flowered well in the 1st year. I planted them as you should do with a large hole filled with appropriate medium and put the crown about 2-3 " under the soil. Put a load of wood chippings around the rots for over winter protection. Well watered during 1st year & fed.

Checked them this year and the Delta Sarah, as well as the Fuchsia genii which has been in same spot for a few years is starting to bud.The Garden News & Alice Hoffman look dead as dodo`s!
No buds and I scrape the wood near the bottom and no sign of green.
Cannot really understand it as not really had any real frost and this is the 1st failure of planting Fuchsia that I have had.

Don't give up yet, I always find that Alice Hoffman is always one of the last to start again. Mines just got two or three tiny little buds on it.
Garden News I only had in a pot last year so it's been overwintered inside.

 

2 of my Delta Sarah are only just starting to shoot from the base. I moved them last year and thought I had lost them for ages.

 

@Anthony Rogers Lockyer Fuchsia nursery have Texas Longhorn £2.75 (if I remember correctly). I was thinking of sending for one. I used to have it years ago.

I am looking for one called Cymru, which, being Welsh, I NEED ... I used to have it but it died and the place I got it from have cut their number of varieties back drastically.
I can't find anywhere that supplies it now, and I'd be very grateful if anyone knows where I can get it.
