Yesterday was very cold and very windy again but mainly sunny. Cycled to shop in a Gale to get paper. Spent most of the day then doing pet stuff, followed by cooking, cleaning, washing, shopping and taking ' the parent ' for hospital appointment - what a gripping life I lead  Hate domestic chores, total waste of my time, far too many important things to be doing. I did sit on bench out front with a coffee for awhile staring at the wilderness that is my front garden. It's got so bad it could almost be.considered so work of art - perhaps I should open to the public:snork:

Later on I was delighted to watch pair of Bluetits filling their beaks with rabbit fur and taking it into the box in the willow tree

In heavy sleet, I took delivery of this LPA...

      lpa.jpg

Naturally, the sleet stopped as soon as I went indoors. Next job today is to see if Bulldog will sell me the spade in the middle...

      worlds-largest-spade-281x488.jpg

..so that I can plant it!

Note that it is bare rooted, evergreen, and quite disease resistant! :snorky:

        Ok, I give up...

        ...what is an LPA?

It looks too small to be a sceptic tank, but obviously has to be below ground. A gas tank? Liquid petroleum?

Dont give up so easily! You are quite close. It has to be below ground, and does have to do with sewage. Its a low pressure sewage pump.

The sun is shining but it is incredibly cold so an enforced retreat from digging. :frown: Once I've heated up enough I'm going to give the fishes their weekly water change and get some brisket in the oven for a sneaky midweek roast

Ok, so does this mean you have a reed filter bed, and this is to get stuff from A to B, so to speak?

We just have a main sceptic tank, and an "overflow", which I think then soaks away... Not really sure what goes on in there, but I know it has made me a lot more thoughtful about what I use....

No. The existing pipes from the house will be rerouted to the pump. That will then transfer it to the council owned sewage pipes. Rainwater still uses the existing pipes, which are on a different circuit.

Weather turned out beautiful so sat in garden all afternoon. Was supposed to be gardening but quickly abandoned that idea :snorky: Birds seemed happy with weather too, flitting about everywhere and then sunning themselves on the bushes. Garden was alive with their voices :)

Went to my sister's for Sunday lunch. Then a walk in the local woods. Tea. Then made a walking stick out of a suitably shaped piece of blackthorn I cut years ago. Walking stick made while drinking beer and wine with my beautiful missus. Test drove the walking stick to the kitchen and back a couple of times, and its perfect. I don't need it at the moment, as my latest injury seems to be healing nicely, but I figured I'd better sort it as I seem to break increasingly easily as I get older.

I think so. I've certainly nagged enough members of the nhs. Nobody seems to want to tell me. Or they don't know. But I suspect that with the exception of my big toe joint, which had been confirmed to be arthritic, I think it's mostly muscle injuries that I get, because I'm an idiot, or have been, in that I've ignored repeated warnings both from other people, and my own body, until such point that mechanical failure occurs. The most recent example of such idiocy was when I fell over in martial arts class. Instructor checked I was ok. I told him I'd simply lost my balance. I hadn't. My leg had refused to carry my weight and buckled. I carried on for several more minutes. I think by the time I admitted to myself that I have no option but to stop training immediately, my instructor had already decided to intervene and stop me. It wouldn't have been the first time he's had to tell me to sit out. This is because I've been an idiot. When I eventually return to training, I'm taking a different approach. Steady progress is better than hell for leather then break.

I have had a day of it looking for a new laptop. Everything is so confusing now! Anyway, cheap and cheerful it is and it will be delivered tomorrow.
Having survived that online shopping experience I retreated to the safety of the kitchen to make lentil curry for tonight's dinner. I shall be satisfied later :)

Yesterday was beautiful so we went across to Henllys wood to take more pics - took around 500 between us :snorky: Bluebells and Garlic fully out now. Watched Red Squirrel for awhile. Had coffee/snacks at cafe.

Put buns out and sat on patio with more coffee and homemade cake when we got home early evening. Watched Fear the Walking Dead and The Bridge.
