I know that there are superstitions about cats crossing in front of you but what about other creatures?

Last night we decided to drive, about 25 minutes on country roads, to our favourite Indian for a curry.

Just after leaving Fluffy, the black cat from up the road, boldly strode right across the road in front of us with his head and tail held high.

On the way home we first had a rather large hare decide to step out in front of us and stare us down. Then a few miles further on a herd of fallow deer decided to cross the road with some of the young ones running backwards and forwards whilst the adults went across more sedately. Typical of deer, and we were ready for them, after they had all disappeared into the field the young ones suddenly rushed back across the road.

A few miles further on a rather large owl flew right across in front of our windscreen.

Was someone trying to tell us something? :)

This sounds all very exciting, but, also, one has to be careful driving at dusk there...

Yes it does mean something, it indicates you are going to have lots of visitors around about the 28/29th May, some of them will be old friends and some new, lots of money will be coming your way ... :)

Apparently witches on a covert mission would use headology to convince that you'd seen a hare if you saw them.

In Celtic tales of being pixie led, or tricked into crossing realms by nasty little fairy folk, the victim in the stories very often starts his adventure by following a deer.

In some beliefs, an encounter with an owl is actually an encounter with the spirit of someone close that's passed. Like a ghost I guess, but physically manifested in the owl. Much the same way that in some beliefs, the grim reaper physically manifests as a crow. As long as you don't have any strange encounters with a lone crow, you should be fine.

Now that sounds more like an S4C current affairs program.

That's OK as we have three resident crows. :blue thumb:

If you see a Rook on it's own, that's a Crow.

If it's a Rook its a Crow, if its Crows it's Rooks.

Your car's so worn out/knackered to the extent that even wild animals can't be worried about stepping out in front of it :)
