3 Seeds sown yesterday (23rd) in case there's good weather at end May/early June, 2 seeds left should another, later sowing be required which I'll do when my big marrows get sown.

Think that must be the quickest I've ever had any sort of squash seed germinate, sown in seed compost and edges rubbed with sandpaper. One of the 3 sown might be past it, other should still be OK, but just one plant will be fine for me this year as I want to go back to concentrating on giant marrows as the size required to win at my village show is getting bigger every year, it's incredible that something that would have been a world record not that many years ago might now only get 2nd place at a village show.

First one popped through the soil yesterday evening, so six days after sowing, two more through a few hours later.

I had a disaster last year sowing seeds so I have split them up this time round, the above seeds are indoors in a propagator, the other half of the sown seeds are in the greenhouse propagator which I need to go and check.

          Steve...:)

[Edit] And I have another four just coming through out in the greenhouse propagator.

          Steve...:)

10 days after sowing, and 2 of the 3 seeds have failed to germinate, but they were a bit old, think I'll sow another one of the strain that germinated quickly.

Any history of your seeds Scrungee?

Richard, that always seems to happen to me in that the seed I most wanted to use fails to germinate. But this year I have 8 out of 9 up, and I think the 9th is coming too.

                Steve...:)

No...bags of time yet and as they grow like stink, they will soon get going for you.

I took the following photo last night, 8 out of 9 have grown on and now need potting on, I do not think the ninth is coming.

But eight plants gives me 4 doubles to plant, 3 for me and one for another plot holder on our site who has asked for one.

                Steve...:)
