Afraid I have no idea Longk.

It came from my neighbour's garden. Unfortunately, she passed away a couple of years ago. We had shared many gardening chats, tips and plants over the years and when she became ill, she kindly said that if there was anything in her garden I particularly liked, I could take it as a token of our friendship over the years.

I'd always admired this Kniphofia, so I lifted a couple of roots and planted them in my garden, and they're thriving.

I'm a bit surprised to see it flowering this early, last year it didn't flower until the autumn, so not sure what's going on there.

 

A nice memento. Was it earlier in her garden as they can take a wee while to settle in.

 

This is almost as beautiful as the Iris Japonica you sent me. Is this variegated too @longk? You really do have so many interesting and unusual plants. It's lovely to see some of your collection.

 

Iris 'bold print'. Bought cheap and then divided so have 2.


Woodland path area/ aquilegia corner. More bluebells to clear but it's maturing.

 

Probably more beautiful simply for not being variegated. But it also has an unusual and really attractive growth habit - the fans of leaves are borne on the end of bamboo like canes...........

Hi my Conny starting to look good and a clematis just starting to flower i don't know the name of it sorry.

 

If my memory serves me correctly it usually flowered late summer in its original place next door.

Last year in my garden it flowered quite late, around October.

 

Yes I would agree @longk there aren't many plants which are improved by being variegated. I do like variegated Weigelia and some Hostas but apart from that I'm not that keen. There was a dreadful variegated Rhododendron here when we moved in. It was the 1st thing to get removed, a neighbour liked it so it moved house and looks equally "man made" and hideous in her garden but I haven't said as much!

 

Bananas are growing well, the Ensette is left over from the winter, been outside all year!! The Dahlias are growing, as are the Cannas.... The planted pots have been out for 3 weeks now, and the warm weather is making them grow well!!!

 

Some of my pansies are starting to flower, i will be fed up of looking at them soon I've put 300 in .
