That Crannog in this month's photo competition looks familiar @Sheal.

Is it the one at Kenmore on Loch Tay? We had a lovely holiday up there a few years ago, I remember seeing that.

@roders I'd just like to point out you haven't given your photo in post #10 a name. :)

Good morning @WeeTam The term macro photography has come to mean many things through time, such as very close-up images, life-size representations of subjects, or photography of magnified subjects.
Taking close-up pictures of small things is called "macro photography." I have no idea why. Perhaps because the small things in macro photography are generally larger than the things you are taking pictures of when doing "micro photography". If you really want to be pedantic then you should say you are doing "photomacrography".

Macro photography is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size (though macrophotography technically refers to the art of making very large photographs).[2][4] By some definitions, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative or image sensor is life size or greater. However in other uses it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size:smile:

Just looked to see what the theme of June's competition is....

...looks like I will need to pack my camera when I go home to visit my mum next weekend!

                              Don't worry @WeeTam ,

You're not alone , I thought "macro" was the name of some sort of special camera you could buy if you were rich :)
