Fence is budding

      That looks very similar to one of the traditional fences here. Which trees are used to build it?

      I'm going to guess willow - hazel wouldn't bud but willow can be very persistent :heehee:

        I would expect that to be correct.

        Without wishing to hijack the thread in any way, the traditional fence that it reminded me of here looks like this:

        The twin posts are Juniper. The rails are what are known as "trapped pines." These are straight pines that grow in the middle of the forests. As they are in more or less permanent shade, they grow very slowly in diameter. Much slower than a normal pine. The ones in the detail photo are probably 40 or 50 years old, and not more than 6 or so metres high. The posts are tied together using young pine shoots that have been boiled to make them more flexible.
