I've been doing a little bit more research on Cat D (my previous knowledge may have been out of date :old: :heehee:) and I think that it's now a legal requirement for a dealer to tell you about it. If so, then the dealer must return your deposit.

You can always act as though it's a requirement, anyway. :)

I opened the post last night to find a £64 card fee on our company credit cards (We never use these credit cards, it's simply an emergency card just incase our company debit cards don't work/gets lost/stolen etc etc) last night I rang the banks commercial card department to inform them that I wouldn't be paying the £64 card fee! & please could they remove the fee from my account with immediate effect or I'd move all the accounts to another bank & take things further! I was very quickly told that there would be no need to move any of my accounts & if I rang back this morning someone would be able to help me, so this morning I rang back at the specified time & again made my point, the lady on the phone was very helpful & said she would remove the fees & to ring back again next year once the fee has again been added to the account so they could again remove it!! Now don't get me wrong if there's a reasonable fee to pay & I've been told about it then that's fair enough but I'd not been told about it, I'd never have taken the card had I have known about the fee! My personal credit card doesn't have a fee & that's only used to buy things online & the balance is paid at the end of the month (sorry I'm going on because I'm cross!). At the end of the telephone conversation I had a lesson about using a credit card & told that it's all about timing , I again explained to the lady that the card is literally 'oh dear the sh*t has hit the fan because my card is lost etc & whilst I was waiting for a replacement card I could buy fuel, supplies etc etc. I was then asked several questions including 'did you require a loan?' NO NO NO I don't want a bloody loan I want you to just take the £64 fee off the account :wallbanging:. So the banks are flipping at it again aren't they?? Irresponsible credit card lessons & giving out loans left right & centre! So the financial drama will start all over again :gaah: It drives me mad :gaah:.
Rant over, I shall now get off my soapbox!

I've been doing work for/in a cottage that is just under 3 hour's drive from me and yesterday was , well, enough to almost make me want to start cocktails earlier than usual.

What happened was this. The final road leading into the areas where the lake cottages are is not much more than a cow path with pine trees close by either side and winding, rutted narrow. An old fellow was standing in the middle of the path, giving us filthy looks as we (OH&I) drove in and OH says, that must be his own driveway (and he did look threatening) so we turned the other direction and ended up in - you get it - someone's driveway. In trying to get out, I backed into a rock that was high enough to scratch the hell out of the back of the van bumper but low enough to not be visible in my side view where I normally have it set. Then when I got turned around I drove back and got out and subsequently got out and walked down each avenue as I went so at not to drive into someone else's driveway. Ended up with one choice left and yes, it was where the old buuugger had been standing and sure enough that was THE way. Then when we got to the cottage all went well until I we went to install the shutters in the living room. They were 4" short. This puzzled me. When I first went to measure last winter while the home was in the middle stages of construction, the owner had said that all of the windows on that floor were the same length and I had to tell her that, no, these two were not, they were shorter. She said no, they were supposed to be the same length. I measured again and found they were 4" shorter and told her so. I heard nothing more about it and three weeks ago when the owner informed me the place was ready for window treatments, ordered the shutters to fit these dimensions. My OH said that there is no way I would ever make a colossal measuring error like that so we measured these again and sure enough, they were 4" longer than my original measure sheets indicated. We think they must have had the contractor replace the windows with longer ones to match the rest and forgot to tell me but I, yes I, have to pay to get new, bigger shades and go back and install them because I cannot prove this. Not at all pleased. Then on the drive back there was a lot of road works and other delays. In all - a nasty day.

These people have spent loads of money on trex decking, top of the line appliances, luxury bath appointments and on and on, in other words, filthy rich. Somehow they feel it is okay to rip off a small supplier like me..

Thanks for reading this long winded moan. Taking the day off today and going to be outside playing. :)

My Moan of the Week and Day ....

People who drive badly, especially along narrow country lanes where I live. Tourists are the worse. They drive like total idiots, too fast, take bends in the middle of the lanes without even slowing down. As was case yesterday, which forced me to brake sharply and swerve towards the hedge to avoid a collision. I get very very fed up :rolleyespink: :wallbanging:. They also seem to believe that they have some kind of automatic right of way and that I should always reverse. This happened couple of weeks back where I had right of way anyway going uphill but the lady in question assumed I was going to go back. I would not. In the end she went back, although it became obvious why she was reluctant to do so in first place as she wasn't very good at reversing.:snorky: She almost put the car in a ditch. I probably made it worse by laughing.

Good morning all my friends well I did recover my £100 deposit, with my best polite and courteous softly softly approach,in fact they apologised to me so many times it got a little embarrassing ,and they thanked me for my understanding under the circumstances and for not creating a scene, they also offered Woo any car on the forecourt and would take £500 off the price, but I thanked them and declined the offer:smile:

We then saw another car in Gravesend which went and took it on a test drive and decided purchase it, it had all the main dealers service stamps /one owner from new,and they will service it and we will pick it up on Monday at 12pm:smile:

Sorry for posting the photo again but I just love looking at it:heehee:

Your not alone, we have the same but not tourists it's the local people which live here and the worst is the farmers there won't slow down even in there tractors , the lane is only wide for one vechical at a time with passing places and if your on a bi-cycle or walking then you have to stand about 6 inches from a moving vechical that won't slow down to pass safely  but some people are not moving out of there way fast enough so they have to slow down  Miss Jiff and i have had to jump in the dich a few times or get hit, but they're getting the massage slowly :snorky:(bad Jiffy:snork:)
Luciusmaximus, if you have some one who won't back back to the nearist passing place, you back back slowly, get it wrong a few times and pull forwards a few times, don't back back to the first passing place may be the 2nd or 3rd one taking your time to do it there soon get fed up, we do this all the time here, i know i'm no good at driving ;) (Bad Jiffy again):snorky:

@luciusmaximus, ah yes the jerk in their car who won't move even though the pull in is their side of the road, I can't deal with this either to the point I've been known on several occasions to stop in the road so they have to then reverse into the pull in, if they don't I switch off my engine & fold my arms, generally that seems to do the trick! :heehee:
I will always let people out of junctions/in to roundabouts, pull in, go up the bank for large vehicles etc but my patience runs out when other drivers don't show any consideration for me when they should! :gaah:

Not car related, well actually..while we're on about cars, my neighbour keeps reversing his car right back so he's right on his property boundary and 2 inches away from my bumper. He thinks he's being clever as we now got the van to park outside too.. little does he know this now bothers him more than us as we just park the van opposite :)

                          My real moans:
Electric meter has died, no idea when. Phoned Extra Energy and said I wanted to take a meter reading but couldn't.. an engineer will be out in 4 weeks time, I'm moving in 2.

Windows 10: the desktop installed and loaded it fine but ever since it came out the laptop has tried in vain to install it with no joy. Get to configuring files, it restarts and I'm back to windows 7.. today however, I load the laptop up and get a totally different Windows 10 screen.. half hour in and were on 6% yay! (I didn't ask/click for Windows 10!!)

We live on a service road alongside a major dual carriageway. When there are holdups on the main road the impatient race up our service road (despite the speed bumps) to jump ahead of the queue. Christine always reverses into the drive and if one of these nitwits is sitting in the boot it can take her absolutely ages to reverse in. Small victory. Before we had the drive we left our, then, old Land Rover on the road of course. One fellow decided he wanted to park there and got very irate eventually shouting that he would ram our car with his toy. We said 'go ahead, we will enjoy the show'.

I always have spare bags in the car just incase - but do think 5p for a bag is a con as you can get a trolley for a £1 lol
