    Hi

My mum found the attached things under a large garden ornament - they are about the size of a garden pea, and there were around 40 of them. Any ideas?

Agree with Jiffy, I think they're empty hazelnut shells. The nut inside will have been eaten by a mouse, possibly even a dormouse.
