We have had a pair of Siskins visit recently, although absent through the Winter, and three turned up this morning.

The Starlings have started arriving. Saw 2 pairs of adults with 3 chicks each yesterday. They have been very busy feeding the chicks:snorky:

We have had several young Sparrows and Starlings, two young Blackbirds, one young Dunnock and two young Chaffinches so far, I am hoping the Siskins bring their young as well.

Lapwings, I don't see many in the Spring or Summer just a few pairs.
            These have chicks somewhere!

Two beauties this morning which I was lucky enough to get half decent pics.
Male Common Redstart, not at all common now.

One of three Hobbies, they had been hunting Dragonflies over the lake and this one landed about twenty yards in front of me, I have never seen one this close.

Female Siskin in the garden, not as gaudy as the male but the back view shows such lovely patterns and streaks.

Nice shots Sl, its usually a sign that they have young and your very close to the nest from my experience they tend to make a fair bit of noise as well.

A regular visitor to our bird feeder for several weeks now, although looking a bit worse for wear it seems to be doing fine. We call this the tatty Tit.

As they are late arrivals, Hobbies don't breed until June and haven't started nesting yet. When feeding the young in July they switch to small birds such as Swallows and even young Swifts.

I moved the bird feeder to another part of the garden yesterday, ready for Gazebos being put up this morning. I think that some of the birds are a bit confused :dunno: as it's not visible from the usual place.

                      They'll soon find it - I hope. :)

Saw a couple of Siskins on the feeder yesterday. :blue thumb: Haven't seen any for years.

There were also a few Swifts high up in the sky - looked more like Swifts than House Martins but not quite sure.

Went for a visit to Lake District recently and came back with some bird sightings that were new to me:)
Mistle Thrush - only realized what they were because they were much bigger than Song Thrush, moving in flocks and have a rather harsh call.

Pied Flycatcher @HsuH is one of my 'bogey' birds, one I have never seen along with Waxwings and others.
As for the Pipits, the first one could be a Tree Pipit but difficult to be sure from the angle but Meadow Pipits often sit in trees to confuse people!
The second is a Meadow Pipit.
I love the shots of the House Martins.:blue thumb:

We had a goldcrest dodging around the front garden all day :blue thumb: The last time we saw one was on the 7th of April 2007. It spent a week on my office windowsill fighting with its reflection!
