    Hi Luciusmaximus,

We had a discussion about cats on here not long ago and I can highly recommend Wilkinsons Cat Deterrent. It's totally harmless comprising of Orange extract, mint and water. You just spray it around your boundaries and it works brilliantly. Cats don't like the smell of orange or mint so they wont go anywhere near it.

:snork: Mine live surrounded by thousands of orange and lemon trees and they all love mint ... the current ones are Portuguese but the English ones didn't mind and the last died last October having lived here for16 years. :cat-kittyandsmiley:

They like their own space and come in to use the litter boxes ... that is what they were trained to do (you have to train cats as you do dogs but cats are actually cleaner ... at least they wash themselves), even the wild ones we have taken in ...it is the owners who are the culprits ... perhaps you should target them! We have interlopers come here regularly ... my cross Siamese soon sees them off. Get yourself a cat who is territorial!

Thanks for the tip. I should perhaps clarify ( just to avoid any misunderstanding ) I did not and would not harm any cat. The intention was to scare it into not coming back. The water treatment was suggested to me by cat lovers who understand the problems their pets can cause to others. It was also suggested to me by a non cat lover that a catapult that hurls the cat 30 feet into the air would work quite effectively. I think he was joking.

Compact it's got flipping grass cuttings & chopped up garden material in it,what do they think it's going to be? :paladin: Tomorrow the council are going to get a phone call off me...they have two choices, empty my bin or give me a refund! :gaah:(I'm paying extra to have my bin emptied) rant over :gaah:

@Beckie76 You give them one in the ear :blue thumb: :heehee:. I've never heard so much nonsense. What is 'compact' supposed to mean? If the bin is for garden waste, and that's what you have put in it, then they should take it.

Even though we don't have to pay for ours I still kick up a fuss. They occasionally miss our bin for no good reason and I get them to come back later that day or the next day. They've got me on file as the resident from hell!!! :loll:

One time they refused to take our bins (we have two garden waste bins) because they said they were too heavy. They do have the waste shoved down hard but saying they're too heavy is really asking for trouble. :snork: I spoke to their supervisor about it and pointed out that the bins are on wheels and they get lifted into the lorry by mechanical lift and I said, "Do you really want the media to hear that your strapping dustmen won't move a bin that a little old female septuagenarian has taken a 100ft to the top of the driveway?" They were back within an hour :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

@shiney, I've spoken to a lady at the council regarding my bin issue, she said she understood that I was disappointed & would speak to the operations manager to see if she could arrange for them to come out & empty my bin! I said that I couldn't see why there would be a problem as the bin men are well known for going home early as their job is infact 'job & finnish' & I was very aware that they generally finished two hours early everyday! The phone went quiet! I went on to say as a compromise I would personally tip my bin on to its side & fork the rubbish to make sure it wasn't compact (which I have now done) she said she would ring me back to let me know if she could arrange for my bin to be emptied, to which I replied, thank you, I would like the bin emptied today please, I do pay extra for this service so therefore I don't want to be let down. I'm still waiting for a phone call :gaah:

@Beckie76 I hope they have collected it now.

I'd have been phoning every couple of hours. :old: :)

:scratch::dunno: I totally sympathise and empathise with you, Beckie:love30: But why do you have to pay extra for them to take the green waste away??? We have a Domestic waste collection one week and the Green Collection the next and it's all in the rates we pay.:dunno:
If you're paying extra and the Council have given you details or made available conditions for such a contract then they are in breach of the contract. They may try to wriggle out by saying you didn't meet the collection rules but in a court I think they would be found in breach due to unreasonable behaviour.:coffee::snorky:

@ARMANDII, our bin collection has recently changed, we have to pay for our garden waste to be collected it's £40 a year! Our general waste & recycling waste is collected on alternative weeks the cost of this service is included in our council tax rates.
If the bin was overflowing I could totally understand but it's only just over half full, I pulled it across our stone drive easily so it's not even heavy. :noidea:

When, here in Cheshire, the Council changed the waste collection system the "new" Binmen started the rounds they were suffering from an overdose "jobsworth" and using the rules and reg's to refuse any bins they could. So a bin lid that was raised by even a quarter of an inch they would refuse it, if they decided a bin was too heavy they would refuse it, they were pro-actively looking to find anything to refuse bins. It caused a near revolt from residents before the Council actually decided to listen to and support the people they were supposed to be working for and who were paying their expenses.:coffee::snork:

That's exactly what I have here a "jobsworth", well he's chosen the wrong person to pick on, if I thought I was wrong in anyway I would be the first person to put my hands up & admit it, but I'm not so I will be fighting this all the way :paladin:.
I can't believe that so many of us have had so many problems with our bin collections, wouldn't it be nice if people could just go to work do their job properly instead of being difficult, awkward & argumentative.

Here's something to cheer you up. Jeremy Taylor singing his song 'Jobsworth'.

This is what introduced the word into the English language nearly 50 years ago.

He became famous in S. Africa in the early sixties (met him there in those days :blue thumb:) and returned to England (quickly :snork:) shortly after having written one of his songs taking the pee out of some S. Africans and the system. :heehee:

:) I'm pleased to tell you that after a very heated discussion & threatening to phone up the local press the bin will be emptied! Maybe not today but they will be back to empty it. I've basically been called a liar BUT I know 110% that the bin is not compacted, I'm right & I'm dealing with a "jobsworth", lets see what happens now, hopefully for their sake normal service will take place in the future :fingers crossed:

What is their definition of 'compacted'? And why does it matter?

Sorry @"M" I started a sentence with 'And'.

Oh Dear!!! :rolleyespink: I've finished a sentence with it as well!!!!!!! :snorky:
