I’ve gardened for 35 years and as long as I can remember I’ve used a planting knife. For weeding and for transplanting, always. I only use a trowel when I can’t find the planting knife. Which happens more and more, as I only have one instead of three now: I never see them in the shops anymore, not even in the large gardening centers.
I can buy them online of course (http://www.worldofwolf.co.uk/products/weeding-planting-knife--ks2k.html). But why aren’t they used more widely? Am I so unusual?

You cant its all worn, and about 80yrs old.
Just a flat trowel, smaller than a bricklayers but bigger than a pointing trowel.

Hi, i only started gardening last year and i always use my metal detecting digging tool/knife i guess its because i feel comfortable with it after digging thousands of holes whilst out doing my hobby.

To me it just looks like a knife.

I don't want to upset anyone here but ( this is just my own opinion ), I just don't see the point. It's just a knife...

Well being a chippy, I'm more inclined to say it looks like a gouge rather than a knife.
I can see how it might be good at getting out weeds with tap roots, but cant see how you would use it for planting.:smile:

For a picture, see the website in my original post. It seems to me better than the ones in Martin F's website. It's bl**dy marvellous for weeding and planting.

By the way, how do you add those 'funny' and 'friendly' and 'horrible' pics, I'm particularly stupid today ......
And congratulations on the lawn scissors, I always dream of those but can't be bothered to buy or use them .....
It seems a day of dot dot dot this morning. Well, it is early.
